I suspect we'll see more breweries cranking out these hard seltzers. It's where the $ is being made these days (unfortunately). I heard that the Brewery X brewer has some Pizza Port experience. I haven't written them off yet. I'll give them a bit of time to (hopefully) get things dialed in.

Yea he was the guy who made his chops with Bacon & Eggs, though to be honest I didn't care of his IPAs when he was at Riip. May have been because of getting used to the brew system there but uncertain.

Isn’t a soft or grand opening a brewery’s first impression? I think if someplace is ready to open then there should be at least one beer that is dialed in and people want to write home about. Especially in a market as saturated as ours. From the sound of it, they’re not quite there yet.

I hear what you're saying, but if a new brewery came out of the gates slinging tasty IPAs (hazy or WC), good sours, and/or flavorful stouts from day 1, I could not possibly care less if they could brew a basic porter or golden ale to save their lives.

Call me old fashioned, but I always thought you should try a brewery's beer before declaring that they aren't good or opened too early, instead of just basing your opinion off of a few anonymous online reviews... But that's just me.

Have you read reviews before making the decision to purchase something? Have you ever not bought something because of bad reviews?

Excuse me for being old. Seltzer? I’ve seen this at a couple of tasting rooms. Including Beachwood. As in Alka Seltzer?

As in "near-flavorless, fizzy, clear bullshit that will crush your palate with dryness." They are all the rage with people who can't handle beer. Or flavor. Or shaving.

Let's all agree that Green Cheeks soft opening was way better. That will give you an idea in comparison.

Its one thing to avoid something based on negative reviews but to criticize or question the effect on quality from their opening strategy when you havent been there yet is a little much, imo

I don’t think people should expect perfect beers when a new brewery opens, however there was a lot of “hype” for this opening. In my opinion, these beers were below the quality of a few other new breweries that opened in recent years and I think it’s fair to be critical in that regard.

Maybe when they actually open they'll come up with a real brewery name.

Maybe breweries "Positioned in Anaheim’s coveted ‘La Palma Beer Trail’" are now required to have generic, factual names?

I felt the same way. Nothing special or great about their beers. The problem is they have BL, GC, and Bruery all close by so if their beer isn't just as good or "better" no reason for me to stop here instead of one of the other 3 spots.

If there's nothing technically wrong with the beer then there's at least a hope that they get things dialed in and improve over time.

It seems, from the posted options, that they might actually be well positioned with those neighbors. those 3 are all super well regarded breweries but they are all also known for big beers, in either flavor, abv, or both. So a place in the neighborhood doing solid takes on classic, more pedestrian styles could be a welcome addition for folks who aren't into 16% stouts or big hoppy IPAs

Clearly you haven't been to Green Cheek lately as they have a larger, mexican larger with lime, a Bier, Australian Style Pale Aisle, Italian Pilsner, Soma IPA, West Coast IPA, Oatmeal stout, 2 Shandy's, a Wit Beer, and 2 Sour Ale's!!! All of which are 7% or less and dayumm good. This in addition to their doubles and Tripples..

X has no chance again that lineup!
