I'm blown away that this is where we're at for non-BA stout releases.

Yeah, I don't need to try it that badly if it's going to cost me the equivalent of 4 or 5 BCBS variants...

In my opinion, Shaun’s adjunct stouts are better than the vast majority of BA beers.

That's either very high praise or a pretty accurate criticism of how overcrowded the BA stout market is now :stuck_out_tongue:

edit: I don't love paying $20-25 for a bottle of non-BA beer, but I can deal with that. I don't at all get paying secondary market prices, though.

It's REALLY funny because the value is bombing and bottles are going for less than 75 on facebook now. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing 100+ posts in a 12 hours span all trying to sell for a 500% markup and failing miserably.

It will discourage them from doing it again next time and there will be more available for people who actually want to drink or trade their bottles, not make a quick buck.

Yup. Gotta get past the FOMO. It's the main reason these parasites thrive.

And then there won't be any supply for out of market beer nerds and the value goes up! WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!

I don't think there is currently even a demand from out of market people. Nobody respects trade value for Chicago beers, and it probably has to do with the fact that everyone in Chicago spends more effort trying to explain why something is over valued than just trade a similar value beer.

Facebook trade group I'm in is currently a bunch of people posting roaming elephant bottles for trade, then an equal amount of people who have never even tasted the beer (and don't have a bottle) telling them what a terrible value they've assigned. It's really odd to me because you'd think you'd want the value of a Chicago beer to be set higher than it should, that way future beers will follow suit... alas, they never learn.

Years ago, I thought the BeerAdvocate trade forums started taking a turn for the worse. Then I joined some FB trade groups. I'm still recovering.

Yeah it really is insane. The same people who cry about Chicago beer being worth so little in trades, are spamming every single post they can find that "this beer sucks, not worth asking cost" in hopes that they drive the value down so they can get it.

    SO! I drank this beer.

It's everything I wished Prop '18 was. Not barrel aged, and possibly the better for it...the chocolate really got a chance to shine.

Notes of both milk & dark chocolate, with undertones of vanilla & peanut butter. A chocolate lover's dream, and Shaun's signature silky mouthfeel was front & center.

100% worth using up an hour of my Saturday (including drive time & a quick brunch) to get this. Can't wait for batch 3!!

Shoot, posting in CCBA that you like a new West coast style IPA more than the latest flavor of the week Hop Butcher gets you called a "fuckin moron" these days. Facebook beer trading groups make me want to stop buying craft beer...

Facebook is the lowest common denominator of commentariat. Forums were great because you needed at least some small amount of brain power to get on the internet and use them. Unfortunately now the forums are dying; and Facebook is full of people who, let's say, "offer up little to the discussion."

For anyone curious, I had a chance to try Curvature Neapolitan on Saturday at Modern Times Festival of Dankness.

Unsure if it was a one-off (probably) but it reminded me a lot of Henna Double Rainbow, specifically the aroma and flavor of strawberry. The body felt subtly lighter than a Henna, but similar to the first batch of Curvature. I did get a bit of a chalky chocolate taste to it. Vanilla was detectable but I admit I didn't give this a chance to hit 55. What can I say, tricky risks when dealing with 2oz pours in sunny 82 degree weather.

It reminded me of those early Henna draft one offs More had at the very first bottle release 2 years ago. I think one was coconut, and the other- maple, and both just felt well intentioned but not at the same level as other future bottled variants.

So they bought a canning line and installed it temporarily at LZB? Is that correct? The new labels look nice
