I hadn’t heard but I’m 100% certain the adjuncts will include lactose, some form of chocolate, graham crackers, a tree nut of some kind, marshmallow and at least one fruit.

The first batch of strawberry guava mmm fruit was out around the same time as peanut butter short dark and handsome. In racing to be the first one to the bottom, I did a blend of those two beers. It was extremely tasty.

That peanut butter short dark was a special beer while the peanut butter flavor lasted.

We need a Teku release too to reveal the horcrux that needs to be destroyed...

Just one of many reasons why you're a legend, Rob.

I don't disagree, but weren't there only about 3 adjuncts in that brew? Now we're at 8 and climbing. At what point does cramming in all this extra fluff become more about self-parody and a shameless attention grab than it does about making, you know, good beer? Or something that at least resembles what beer used to be?

I also heard this rumor. Parish was just here for a takeover which lines up with the timing to brew an IPA, but when would they have done this stout? During green city?

I guess I don't see those things as mutually exclusive. Other Half still cranks out a lot of *real* beer that fits your criteria and then some fun stuff. Look at the cans available today! There's a helles! That's like the antipode of PBJ Crunchee.

If one isn't into what I describe as the fun stuff, I can see how it's kind of an eyesore, but let the rest of us have our fun :grinning:

I say sky’s the limit. Hoping for a Cool Ranch Berliner by the end of the year.

I would definitely have to try that one. I may throw up afterwards but I think is worth the risk :-)

They'll do 2 versions: Ranch and Blue Cheese. Both will be dry hopped with actual buffalo wings.

How are we defining "real"? My personal definition is no 'tose, no flavoring additions, and no triples. But I will allow DDH and adjuncts (true adjuncts - I don't mean throwing in a box of krispy kremes). Going by that, then from the 11 beers on the cans & bottles to go section on their site, it's a 6 v 7 split. So not too bad. I'd like to see some Short Dark back in regular rotation.

Edit - motherfuck I just saw they have no Double Citra*. Was hoping to reup for the Catskills since a bunch of vultures came to my place Saturday and drank way more of it than expected.

No, you're right. And to each their own. The world would truly be a poorer place without kitchen-sink Berliners and those who enjoy them. I genuinely mean this.

But if those beers are a joke on some level, and I think they are, then a few dilettantes should be able to occasionally poke fun at them, and maybe even ask a hard question, on a trivial message board. Diversity in perspectives and voices is just as important as diversity in taste and beer styles. Even more-so, I'd say.

Personally I think Other Half is still showing surprising restraint with the additives. Evil Twin comes to mind as an outfit that is just recklessly throwing shit in their beer- but often to delicious results!

I can't fucking wait for a "normal" SD&H or SD&W release. Such a great beer and oh how I'm missing it!

Of course there are going to be some BK outliers - but it's pretty common knowledge that the really really low brow stuff is propped up almost exclusively by NJ
