Speaking of Sand City, I’m headed to Commack on Sunday to hang with some old (not @jrnyc old) friends. Any locals know if cans are typically available there on sundays?

 

They pretty much update their Instagram story every day.

 

Yea usually between 11-2 everyday.
They had 8 cans for sale today and it’s a guarantee that at least 2 more will be released between tomorrow and Sunday.

 

Looks like they just added single hop Galaxy to the menu on Untappd. Surprise drop!?

What's the difference between single hop Galaxy and Space Diamonds? Just ABV?

 

Seems to be the likely difference, just more hops, SD all Galaxy at 8.5% DDH SD even more Galaxy, and then Galaxy IPA 6.5%

Not sure if the grain bill is different at all, someone would need to go back and find the post on the last time Galaxy was in cans

 

People still thinking tomorrow will be a madhouse?
Plan on getting there around 10. Thought process was be towards the front and gone not too long after open. How off base am I?

I think you’ll be amongst many mules on line at 10 but I imagine it’ll be worse as the day goes on with people leaving work early.

So space dream vs galaxy IPA is identical except for tose?

 

I don't think the single hop, single IPAs have oats in them. Also I know they've used Conan yeast in some of these but its not consistent I don't think.

 

@Feaor touched on it but yeah at minimum Space Dream has the Oats added into it as well, which the single hop single IPAs don't. I dont think Space Diamond does either, but I can't confirm that, I'd have to go look back.

Also I wasn't born in NYC/Brooklyn, but my Dad and half my family were so I basically grew up there!

 

I think the difference between SD and Single Galaxy, in just my opinion and not based on facts as I am too lazy to go back and look, is definitely grain bill. Obviously SD has more hops to help balance the increase in grains for the jacked up ABV but the base of Single Galaxy seemed lighter (and this is on selective memory from what, 2 years ago?). More 2-row with maybe some pils thrown in?

Also, everyone on my mom’s side of my family since 1827 was born in Brooklyn in either Bay Ridge or Carol Gardens (yours truly included). I would say I have achieved “ultimate local” status. I wonder if BA will change this for me?

FB says last Trill collab release on a Friday lasted for a while and you could just walk in and get it later in the day. However, I have a busy day tomorrow, so I'm aiming to get online at 10-10:30 tomorrow... which I'm not too pleased about. But, hoping to be out of there by 1-1:30 (hope they start selling early...)
