I’m an outlier. I live 5 min car ride away..it’s not a level playing field.

You stand on line if a) you live farther than 5 min car ride and really want what you want, b) you’re a mule or c) you spend 15k at said brewery and god damn it I deserve it.

You don’t stand in line if a) you like/love this stuff and if no big deal if it sells out before I can get there, b) you hate beer and are no fun at parties, or c) you spend 15k at said brewery and god damn it just mail it to me!

And yes, hating beer and having fun at parties are not mutually exclusive.

 

It’s pathetic that people care about how strangers spend their day. You don’t want to wait in line? Cool, don’t. You want to? Go for it. Choosing to mock people’s decisions or gloat that you got lower options mid day with no wait is just pathetic.

And for the record I stopped going to releases a few years back. I went today around 10:15 and got full cases of collabs and some crunchee.

 

There's really no excuse for Other Half to not provide line and availability updates, particularly during crazy releases like this, during the course of the day.

 

Monkish is unbelievable at doing this, for their releases they tweet cases available at open, out number of people on line, quantity left and update this every 5 or 10 minutes.

 

Let me clarify.. I am saying if I lived farther away, I would most likely wait on line on a day like today.

I’m definitely a jaded local but don’t blame or mock anyone for doing what they want to do.

Well, I don’t know if your comment was directed toward me, since I made a comment about not needing to wait in lines. If it was, let me clarify: I don’t really care that strangers decide to spend hours standing in a line (whether or not waiting in the line affects which beers you get) but I do have the opinion that it is silly to stand in a long line for hours waiting for ANYTHING, not just beer. That’s my opinion and you can get angry and defensive about it (even though I’ve never met you and didn’t personally drive by while you were in line and tease you or throw rotten fruit) if you want. We’re probably both nice guys who would get along in person, but disagree about this issue. Have a sense of humor about your passion, man!

 

I’m not angry, I’m not upset, I’m not hurt... and it wasn’t directed at anyone nor could I ever recall handles to posts. It’s just been something I’ve noticed for literally years and could never understand. I don’t feel personally attacked or whatever and said I never bother going anymore. Having just split cans of both collabs and Triple Cream, Triple Cream is easily the best of the 3 in their present state.

I personally don’t care if people spend their day waiting on a dirty, smelly brooklyn sidewalk in 85 degree heat. However, I do have a problem with lines in the fact that it’s a positive feedback loop. One person lines up even though it is not necessary and then everyone thinks they have to line up to get the beer. There is absolutely no need for it.

 

You guys are focusing on the wrong problem. Beer lines are fine, they make perfect sense. Bathroom lines? Those are stupid. Just wear a fucking diaper you losers!

 

Alternative option: just whip it out wherever you are standing. No need to be wet and smell like asparagus all day.
