I tried fresh Heineken on tap at the brewery almost 20 years ago, and I thought it was great. The best lager I had ever tasted actually (at the time, although it's still up there on my list). I always thought I hated Heineken, it turns out I just hated skunky beer.

My biggest rDev% for my ratings is Carta Blanca at 3.41 / 2.68 / +27.2%. Still my #2 Mexican lager after Modelo Negra.

Any of the Genesee "craft" beers - Ruby Red Kolsch, Oktoberfest, Bock, etc.

Agree, I always felt this set the bar (no pun intended) for a mass produced Pilsner. Started drinking this back in early 80s and like you said, flawless,... I’ll add timeless

Gearys Pale ale,... I have a slight bias being British and vacation in Maine frequently, one my go to brews when I visit up there.

I guess the correct answer would be Snow. Number 1 seller in the world but rated 59 here. If voting with your wallet is a thing

At Beer Advocate the "Most Underrated Beer" is just about any "Craft Lager" that's 5% ABV or less.
I never understood why people who really don't like [or even HATE] the style feel compelled to do reviews.
Ooops..I forgot about those Poo Bah rankings..LOL.

Milf from mothers in Missouri, I think it’s materfamilias now. BA stout in 4 barrels, rum, brandy, rye and bourbon. Really well done.

Hibernation ale, I drink through 2-3 6ers a year and am building a 6 year vert, just drank a 4. Very solid fresh, opens up outstanding with a year on it.

Let's face it: AALs don't get a lot of love, especially the mass produced ones. BA's top rated AALs include a lot of craft brewers, which I think is not a fair comparison to the mega brews. The mass produced ones are not trying to be craft, they're based on other selling points. IMO, the BMC products should be in a separate sub- category, so it's a real apples to apples comparison. I think Pabst Blue Ribbon beats the heck out of the other mega brands, but it doesn't compare favorably with the craft guys. I give PBR about a 4.0 when BAs rate it as Poor.

    All my favorite styles...

Exactly. Someone else was confused why I put craft beers and BMC into separate categories, like comparing cider and mead, tea and coffee, bourbon and scotch (not to as extreme an extent). Its more a personal, mental thing, since they're literally both "beer", but so different...

Of course, I'm partial to imports, which muddies the waters still more!

I disagree they should have their own category, that would open a pandora's box of sub categories for corporate vs craft beer. Instead people should simply RATE TO STYLE!

Burial makes great beers period, and they’re always fresh here. I don’t care for Surf Wax, and it’s a shame they lost it on Scythe, imo that was a terrific beer, loved the rye hit.

Agreed, I legitimately like PBR and Natty Ice. They’re exactly what their supposed to be super light drinkable clean beers.

I will say though that I do enjoy well made examples of other lager styles much more. Give me a good helles dunkel pils dortmunder etc anytime over a pbr, but AAL has its place and I’ll drink them as long as I drink beer.

Hoegaarden, even if it has been dismissed as practically a macro now, is still one of my favorite brews.
