Really easy to do beverages4less is in SD and carries everything, it's easy, and legal, depending won where you live. Yes it's a little more expensive than trading, but shipping costs are shipping cost, Freddie doesn't jack that up. But with one phone call you can have them all in your fridge in 5-6 days, you couldn't do that with a trade. Pliny/Blind Pig/Nelson/Duet/Pure Hoppiness etc. IMO Nelson is terrific. I've had Pliny/Blind Pig in my fridge that was about 10 days old if you catch it right. Alpine is always fresh, it's in his back yard.

I had my first Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier last weekend... Amazing. Simply delicious! :grinning:

Glad you had a good impression of Head Hunter. Too much hype for that little guy.

IMO: Not even close to Pliney. Just had my first one last week and was very under impressed.
Pliney, is just to damn balanced.

I will go out of my way to get some more fresh Head Hunter though, as I'm hoping round 2 will be better.

    Cheers

aluminum bottle takes a back seat to the plastic bottles served at sporting events now...beer in soda bottles and they take the cap.

    Mount Vesuvius.

    Discuss.

Edit: Waiting for a brewery to make an IIPA named this. As an added bonus they should over carb every 100th bottle just to make it interesting.

I think I've solved this problem. We need to start an Official (Insert Beer) is Better Than Pliny thread and people can keep posting in that, like the giant haul thread.

Yea I went to the Pats colts game last weekend and that's what the hawkers sell. For a mere 8 bucks you can buy a plastic pint bottle of bud light of bud heavy...

I can't see why anyone would pay that much for beer at a game. But I guess if you drop several hundred on tickets what's another 40-80 depending on how much you drink.

I assume its just for sporting events. You couldn't go to the store and get them.

I'm going to lump any IPA/DIPA/pale into one big hoppy category here.

For the West coast? How about Port Brewing Mongo and anything that Alpine makes.

For the midwest? How about Hopslam, Two Hearted, DRIPA, Dreadnaught, and Zombie Dust.

For the East coast? How about Heady Topper by a landslide.

Pliny was the first, and it is a great beer, but there is no shortage of IPA's, DIPA's, and pales that I would rather have.

Probably Cruz it was an original? Doesn't make it the best.

Strange nobody mentions double jack. Though I agree its less a Pliny the elder killer than it is a Pliny the younger peer.

Just because you don't care much for a beer that many others like, doesn't mean it's overhyped, it just means...you don't like it that much while many others do.

What's the difference? The best beers out there have an insignificant separation in quality between them. I would have a hard time choosing between around ten different IPA/DIPA beers if they were all put on a shelf together.

I have never tried Pliny but our Minny version has to be Surly Abrasive! This is by far my favorite DIPA!!

The moral of this story is that there are quite a few really great DIPA's out there, availability and locality plays a role too. End of story.
