Yes, but it hasn't been available in my area thus far this year. To me the Paulaner Wiesn has that same dry finish as their Amber Märzen, and it falls in-between HB and Weihenstephaner in my favorite Pale Festbier category.
I had it a few years ago, as you point out, and seem to remember finding it on the thin side, but with a nicely sweet maltiness. I'll have to see if I reviewed it.*

*Looks like I didn't, and if I recall correctly the Maibock and Weizen special releases made it to my area, but the Festbier didn't... my memory was probably keying on the Maibock.

I enjoyed your notes, nice job @WesMantooth
So far I've been surprised by Spaten this year as well - found 12 fairly fresh and it's drinking real good.

I don't know - folks complaining (still!) about buying green-bottled beer that turns out to be light-stuck? Obviously, the beer is not exposed to light until the US retailer opens the case. In the case of Spaten Oktoberfest, I found this sealed case to be an easy choice this afternoon.

Some people prefer to purchase their beers in smaller quantities such as 6-packs. Based upon my BA readings purchasing individual bottles seems to be coming more popular.

    Cheers!

The Spaten Oktoberfest I had on tap this year was top notch. I get that the green bottles are less than ideal, but if you can find it on tap......

Damn, that kicks all sorts of ass! Thanks for the heads up, hopefully it's available up here by me.

I saw a few cases of these at Shop Rite (Cinnaminson) and a local store (Traino's)....Shop Rite had them for $29.99 a case. What an awesome mixed pack, might have to pick one up soon if they're still available.

Nice price! Unfortunately I don't think they're available in Bergen County- the Total Wine website lists it in stock at Cherry Hill, but then won't allow me to have it shipped to my local store for whatever reason.

Spaten's an AB-owned and distributed brand - I got it at a store serviced by Ritchie & Page, which only cover 4½ central/southern counties (Mercer, Monmouth, Burlington and Ocean and part of Hunterdon). You'd think all the NJ AB houses would carry it but... you know... "!@#$% beer distributors"...

Yeah, I've notice the same thing. Just another aspect that separates me from the current geekery. Do they also buy 1 egg at a time?

And I for one appreciate that you are a unique individual.

I have no idea/comment about eggs.

    Cheers!

Liquor Outlet in Boonton has it if you're ever in that area or up for a short drive. I'm in Bergen County occasionally so I'll let you know if I see it anywhere.

I can't remember the last time I bought a brewery's sampler pack, but if I see this in my area, it's happening.

    BOOM!

If all the eggs were different, sure. But fortunately there aren't literally hundreds of different eggs to choose from at my local supermarket.

And a dozen eggs doesn't cost upwards of $60-70 where I live.

Gotta make sure I love those "eggs" before I commit.

Well, my wife buys ‘craft’ eggs. And, while they are sold by the dozen, they are somewhat akin to a taster pack in that each dozen is made up of brown, cream, white, green and blue shelled hens eggs in various sizes. They cost $10.00 a f#%~ing dozen and all taste the same. I’m sure if she could wait in lines to buy individual eggs in special limited variant hues she would. I’d be hard pressed to justify complaining too, what with my behaviour.

I'm reading with increased frequency that cities are changing the zoning codes to permit the raising of small flocks of chickens (hens only) in the back yard so that many of these hipsters may actually be collecting their multiple-color eggs one at a time.

That beer was sublime. I absolutely loved it.

@WesMantooth thanks for sharing! I missed this thread over the Holiday weekend, but really enjoyed catching up on it this morning. Fantastic write up and all around job!

Did you really drink five beers in 45 minutes? No judgement here, just checking!
