Nugget Nectar vs Zoe Ale

I had my first Zoe a couple nights ago. While I can see the Nugget Nectar comparison, I was more reminded of a punchier version of Stone Levitation. A very tasty brew - I'd love to have it again really fresh.

 

I'd have to go with the Nugget Nectar. I thought Zoe was a good beer, but not great. But based on the the good feedback I might need to revisit Zoe.

 

Nope, price isn't part of a review, but it is one of the main factors for buying a beer. I'll contine to buy more affordable options

 

I'd like to say that you will miss a lot of great beers but I won't. Bud Light is 3.99 at my store. Must be pretty good.

its nice to imagine that zoe might be $12 a sixer or whatever, but its not. either way, despite zoe being a fantastic beer, i'll take nugget nectar every time.

 

I liked Zoe, but it doesn't hold a wet fart to Nugget Nectar.

This thread is has an important spot in the real world though. There are plenty of bum ass red/amber ales that suck; Nugget Nectar certainly is not one of those.

 

exactly this. zoe is a special beer, but it's also a very expensive beer. amazing magnitude and clarity of hop flavor plus delicious malt, but if i need that hop fix, i can get it elsewhere for less than half the price...

that said, if i see a fresh bottle of zoe when i'm in boston, i buy it.

 

Zoe has a creamier carbonation due to bottle conditioning, and really a different hop-profile. Maine Beer Co. uses more of a Pliny-style hop-bill. I absolutely adore both beers.

 

Just tried the Nugget Nectar, no Zoe available in my area. I was amazed by how much I enjoyed the Nectar as I knew the IBU's and the hops were going to be big time going in, but holy crow it's a good balance and the feel of grapefruit like presence was amazing and welcoming to me another solid Troegs selection, gotta say I like their big boys better than their more common line-up. More Nugget Nectar more Troegenator good good stuff...

 

^This. Both are very good but I like the Zoe more.

 

I've had Zoe and NN side by side, and while I love MO, and Peeper was OK, Zoe is a bit dark and rich for me. Almost like a Porter. However, I'm very impressed with Maine Beer and am anxious to try Lunch.

 

Ugh...Lunch is such an awesome beer.

 

I enjoy Zoe more. however? do I enjoy it more than 3 Nugget Nectars?

The first Nugget Nectar of the year is like Christmas morning. But, I still ended that night with a Zoe.

 

I have had both side by side a few times these past few weeks. I'd go with Zoe, but not by much. Both are really great.

 

This is tough,I honestly looove both of these brews.I guess when it comes down to it,it just depends on my mood which one I like better......If I had a gun to my head,I'd take my girl Zoe.
