Should I assume that their Grisette will be just as authentic as their Lambic and Gose?

Looks like it will a local Boston area-only beer - "Brewery Release" and the TTB application and the label itself only list the Boston brewery, and the side panel emphasizes the Haffenreffer brewery site. ("Since 1984" is a stretch - they opened the pilot brewery there in June, 1989, though apparently Koch had begun leases space there in '85).

16 oz. can label, I guess? (They can there?)

Some Belgian Saisons are labeled as Grisette.

My understanding is that it's lower abv and generally a cleaner fermentation than many saisons

Funny, I totally missed the brewery-only part. So this should probably be in the New England forum.

Brewery only? Darn this was the diary Sam Adams beer in a while that sounded like it had some promise. I’ve been a fan of the Grizzette style for a light beer.

Say what you want about Sam Adams, but the fact they are brewing a grisette demonstrates they are still committed to craft beer.

I agree with this statement as stated but if there is limited access (i.e., I can't buy it) it is not much of a commitment here.

    Cheers!

Maybe just testing the local market to see reactions?

Could be? Or maybe just simply a local release.

FWIW I am still awaiting standalone 6-pack of Old Fezziwig as a Christmas time seasonal. That would be a step in the direction of "commitment" IMO.

    Cheers!

How long have you and I and countless others been waiting for that?!?!

Not in my lifetime I reckon. :slight_frown:

But some BA posted that a BBC sales rep told him that Old Fezziwig will be available this year as standalone product. Now, we need to consider it was a salesman that made this statement but...

    Cheers!

I would not say "never" now that DFH is involved, we may be looking at a whole new way of operating so six packs of Old Fezziwig may be highly possible.

So is this going to be like Oxbow's Grizacca? No word on what hops are used...?

I believe this is going to be based on the beer that won their LongShot competition last year. I was hoping this would make it to national release, as the beer sounded pretty good. I think Drew and Denny interviewed him at the end of last year, or early this year. Ah found it, October 2018 https://www.experimentalbrew.com/podcast/brew-files-episode-46-little-beer-could. You can get a link to his recipe at that link also. I am sure they jacked around with it, but still a sub 5% grisette....would love to see it down south
