Haven't been to Binny's in awhile--has UMB hit there yet?

Sitting next to the cases of Blushing Monk 4 packs in my area...which is a bummer because I love Blushing Monk and was so happy they brought it back. But it's a little too spicy of a price.

Someone mentioned $20 for a 4 pack of KBS earlier up on the thread, I'm sure it would fly off the shelves in my area for that price.

Amazing how much KBS there was this year. While the lack of exclusivity takes a little away from the experience, I’ve really enjoyed the 2019 vintage (I didn’t care for 208 as much) and I like being able to pick up a 4 pack whenever I want well into the year!

I will never understand this sentiment.

Kinda disappointed with UMB. Thought it was good but all of the hype around it we've heard for years left me disappointed

I felt the same way. When I had it in the tap room a couple years ago it was amazing. Not sure if they changed something, my palate changed, etc but it was not as good as I remembered.

When I have my first several drinks of this beer, the coffee, bourbon and chocolate flavors are quite intense. After 10 minutes, these flavors become muted as the beer warms. Very weird. Just the exact opposite of what most of my experiences are with darker beers.

I thought it was terrific. The issue today is that we have so many choices, so many adjunct heavy barrel aged dark beers. The beer hasn't changed, just our expectations.

Interesting news that KBS will be year-round starting next year (insert the joke that it's been year round for a couple years already).

More interesting is that they have decided to bottle a variant, KBS Espresso. I think it's a good idea to get some more variety out there, although I'm not particularly excited about that particular variant. Just doesn't excite me too much.

Just my two cents, KBS espresso was huge coffee flavor at the last Black Party. I quite liked it.

The year round decision is a bit of a head scratcher but I think the variant idea is smart. I'm not sure KBS is as good of a foundation as BCBS for variants (more so a different style of BA stout than anythign else) but I'm interested in the results.

I wondered if it had been put on tap before. I figured it had, but I wasn't sure. I'll definitely give it a shot when it comes out.

Hey, let's add more coffee to a coffee stout...

I was just thinking the same thing. There's enough coffee in KBS already. How about a vanilla variant?!

This may be an unpopular opinion but I feel like generally coffee and vanilla don't really go well together and make a great beer.

That said, I'd love a BA FIS with vanilla variant.

Exclusivity absolutely adds to the experience of drinking a beer. Knowing that you can go get more of something (not just beer) at any point in time has an effect on how you consume/experience a thing. If you are limited in the amount of times you can experience an event, consume a food/beverage, etc then that will likely make you savor that more than if you can have that "thing" every day.
