Welp, just got a 24 hour leave approved for next Friday night (aka Oktoberfest Metal Night)! Really looking forward to Pallbearer and Bong Ripper. Hey @Veliksta1 will your draft list be as metal as your music lineup? Tell me about this "barrel aged beer tent" that I'm going to be very excited about on Friday and have an equal level of regret for on Saturday morning. Inquiring minds want to know.

 

4 BA beers will be tapped at a time, in this order:

Who knew I'd eventually get to see Bong Ripper while sipping Cuvee de Grace. And yet, here we are.

 

Bruh, first round is on me if you concatenate Bong Ripper into one word moving forward. Kind of the opposite of Treehouse.

 

Unfortunately I’m going to miss the metal evening. Will the BA tent be happening Saturday as well?

Hey everyone - A couple updates:

The FB event page is live for the Deth's Tar release (Oct 18-19). As soon as all the variants are officially tested and cleared, we'll announce those on the page. They are sounding pretty amazing for this first release.

I am planning to fly in from LAX this Saturday to pick up some cans (Revolution, Pipeworks and Half Acres). To be more specific, 4pks of Revolution/Errants collab Reverrant at the brewpub. I was in Chicago with family 2 weekends ago and had the Reverrant on tap at the brewpub. I wish I had brought my cooler on that trip but didn’t. So that’s why I have time this Saturday to fly back.
Reading this thread there’s going to be a big street party going on this Friday/Saturday. My plan was to hit up The Beer Temple and Revolution (for lunch/cans) and across the street for a few more cans to take back home with me. I’ll have approximately 4-5 hours to make this happen. How’s the brewpub going to be on Saturday around 2-3? I would like to have lunch there before taking the L back to ORD for my flight back home. My other question, should I skip the Beer Temple and go to Pipeworks for cans instead? And then Uber over to Revolution for lunch?

I would expect the brewpub to be SLAMMED on Saturday, since the street fest is happening at that time...just my guess on that, though.

 

This sounds like a headache to me, but maybe that has to do with me trying to figure out if you're flying in Saturday and flying back out Saturday. I'd probably avoid the brewpub area if I were you.

As for Beer Temple or Pipeworks, it depends on exactly what you're looking for. I think BT should have most of the recent releases from PW, but the PW Dojo should have a much wider selection...but it's a pain to get over that way IMO.

If it were me, I would go to Beer Temple (they may have Reverrant and all the PW/HA stuff you're looking for), and if there is still stuff you're looking for, I would go to Revolution Taproom and/or Half Acre, and eat lunch at Half Acre.

 

The Brewery / Beer Temple plan put forth here is probably your best bet...I might substitute Honey Butter Chicken for Kuma's, but that's purely personal preference!!
