I was there yesterday. They had plenty of cans of: Extrication (DIPA), Rainbows and Waterfalls (DIPA), Crunchable (Session IPA), Hand Made Lager, I Just Bronze (Radler), Henry (American Porter), and maybe some Obligatory (IPA). They just posted that they're releasing Permastank, which is my favorite DIPA they do.

They also had plenty of bottles, too many to name. Anachronism, Methodic, Vacillate #8, Intricate Simplicity, Tjo, The King, the new collab with Central State, etc...

I'm really surprised that this thread didn't get any action during or after the release yesterday.
Any thoughts on the new stouts?

I'm also curious about these Kamigoye stouts. I don't know anything about the brewery Transient collaborated with, Magnanimous brewing?

I was kinda surprised as well, very little chatter behind this release. I went towards closing yesterday and the taproom was MAYBE 3/4 full and they had the same bottle limit as at opening.

I tried regular and the Salted Nut Roll draft only variant and both were outstanding. Supposedly the Vanilla Kamigoye is the winner of the 3 but I haven’t tried it yet, will prolly crack a bottle in a few days.

I don't have any in hand but the pictures appear to be the same 500ml bottles that Buckleys came in

Yeah, both bottles were in the 500 ml format. Liking that move, and I hope that trend continues.

Showed up around 2 for the release, and it wasn't terribly packed. I personally thought vanilla was the best of the 3. Regs was pretty solid. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I did not care for the Nut Roll version at all. It was really hard to finish the 7 oz (?) pour, even with my wife helping. It was very booze forward, and just something on the finish was super off putting.

    Cool side note:
My buddy was wearing a Simpsons themed shirt, and Chris approached him to compliment his choice of clothing. He also gave him a pour of a beer they are releasing in the next week or so called Moon Money (Simpsons reference). It was a hazy IPA, and was really good. Very tropical and fruity. I'm hoping it'll be available in cans on, or by, Junie Day.

i’ll bet it releases this week, if they had it ready to sample it’s probably been canned yesterday or today. They usually don’t release cans the same week as big releases because they’re busy bottling those instead

At $18/$19 per bottle I’m not surprised that interest is waning.

Anyone remember what limits were on Junie last year?

For those who have had both Junie and Buckley (base, variants, and barrel aged versions) how similar are they? Do you have a preference? I've never had Junie and was maybe thinking about going on Saturday

They are heavily adjuncted Imperial stouts with completely different additives - and the ABVs are a bit different too (14 to 11) so it's tough to compare. I really like Buckley, but if you dig salted caramel in a stout, Junie is good. It was really heavy on the caramel.

This is the first year for them doing the BA variants, but by the looks of the barrels they used these should be really good. The base stout is sweeter than Buckley. I’d say these’ll be better than Neckbeard Nectar in November. Prolly worth going to the release

Personally I don't think Junie holds a candle to Buckley. Junie is sweet...and with the adjuncts cloyingly so last year IMO.

Curious as to why you think they'll be better than the Neckbeards? Last year's Neckbeards were fantastic and used some great barrels.

I've personally yet to have a Junie that I thought was anything better than "not bad." though to be fair I think I've only had the regular and the baklava. Buckleys have better far better, so far.

So a mixed bag. Maybe not worth the two hour drive for me then. Thanks everyone for the input.

Probably a lot of personal preference, I don’t hate NN by any means (and I’m probably just in Bourbon County mode when that gets released) but Junie is a sweeter stout and at least 2 of the variants are rye barrel, which should turn out really well (especially the breakfast rye one)

But also it’s not a 2 hour drive for me so my opinion of “worth the drive” is different
