Echoing a few others on here I'd have to go with Pumpking and Pumpkinator for Thanksgiving. Christmas is usually Mad Elf and GL Christmas Ale. FBS and Brooklyn Chocolate everyday I wake up and see snow.

Troeg's Mad Elf. The cherry tastes like Xmas and it has a whiskey-type warming as it goes down. Better than a fireplace.

First, cheers to you and the notion of having a beer with your dad. I lost my dad over 20 yrs ago and would give anything to be able to do this. Also, I'll be a grandfather this Christmas and able to drink to a new experience. Stay tuned for that one.

But to answer your question, my favorite holiday beers are Frosted Frog and Yule Smith from Alesmith.

I mean...I guess Celebration has to be on the list (though it has fallen back quite a bit for me)...

Around this time of year though, I'm loving Backwoods Bastard. Looking forward to a 2011 Darkness, maybe on Christmas.

Schafly Christmas is a favorite, and I recently tried an Anderson Valley Winter Solstice. the Anderson Valley was great, it had a nice creamy caramel finish.

Great lakes x-mas ale is my favorite. Picked up a six of SN Celebration a couple of weeks ago. Drank about half a bottle when i realized it tasted somewhat below average. Looked at the label on the neck of the bottle and saw 2011. For a year old beer it actually wasn't that bad.

Five years ago, I would have said Great Lakes Christmas Ale, but over the last few years think it's just "ehh". Seems like they're mass producing it now and using less honey and cinnamon or something.

This year, I like Southern Tier 2X Xmas and Troegs Mad Elf. What say you?

Sweetwater Festive Ale is my favorite. Also Lagunitas Bown Shugga', JP Noel De Calabaza, and CCB Warmer Winter Winter Warmer are right up there, too.

Celebration is my Favorite, even if it's an American IPA rather than a winter warmer.

    Otherwise:

    Anchor Christmas Ale
    ST Krampus
    ST Old Man Winter Ale
    Great Divide Hibernation
    Avery Old Jubiliation

and I have yet to try ST's 2XMAS, I'm very excited to try it.
