    Dear Other Half,

Can you please brew a deep, rich, complex Imperial Stout south of 13% (but north of 8%) that contains no cookies, breakfast cereals, Wild Thai Bananas™, other exotic fruits, nuts, nut butters, spices, peppers, pastry mulch, lactose, random ingredients you imagined in a fever dream, etc...and put it in cans at a fair price?

All your market analysis is wrong, for this is what we really crave, particularly as we enter the cooler and darker months. I'd still take my fine time walking to such a release, but I'd buy whatever I could once I got there.

    Sincerely,
    F. L. O.

They're just under your ABV cutoff (and have MILK SUGAR), but Short, Dark, & Wired was a crowd favorite last year while Short, Dark, & Handsome was solid, and other variants were quite tasty.

Their "market analysis" is absolutely not wrong. The people who purchase Other Half stouts want the exact opposite of what you posted.

I suspect Flo was being a little cheeky.

    No shit.

But what's the point of posting here unless you're trying to say something unorthodox, share new and useful information, joke around with friends, or prod a smug (but otherwise wonderful) brewery into doing something basic and foundational they too often forget about?

Fair enough my friend. Your excellent dialect fooled my feeble brain. I now realize it was silly of me to assume you weren't aware of the intricacies of the OH consumer base.

I like the Mexican version of SD&H...

I'm so glad I don't like pastry stouts, the NEIPAs eat more than enough of my money.

Dumb question: what did I buy today? Got ACE from the recent batch, but the letters are white and not green. Says DDH. Doesn’t DDH ACE usually have green letters?

@Ryanwithacomb whatever type of ACE it is, it’s still available as of 3:58pm

SDW was definitely a standout for me. I absolutely love that beer.

Just got here and got plenty of ACE and a space diamonds pour! Plus @Tallerboy and I were able to set up a trade and now I'm getting a DDH C+G too. Not really sure how one trip worked out so perfectly without mountains of hype, but I'll take it!

Has anyone tried both the nutter butter and oreo stouts yet and formed an opinion? I can only get one and I'm leaning towards nutter butter

I regularly underestimate my fellow beer nerds, but for someone to already have consumed a 15% pastry XL by 6:30pm day of release day, with that day being a weekday - that would be a very strong move.

Triple space diamonds is proof that there is too much of a good thing.

So... does that mean that they brewed too much of an amazing beer, or that too much amazing galaxy (the obvious king of all hops) makes a beer less enjoyable?

I was going to ask about this recent batch as the first was harsh and the second was damn good. The variation of OH galaxy beers gives me way too much anxiety than I’d care to admit.

Triple Space 1st was a huge anomaly as far as OH Galaxy beers have been. For the most part, OH is good to great, and their galaxy beers are awesome. Recent Space Diamonds and Forever Simcoe both being really good, but not "best batch ever" good. I'll take a weaker batch of Space Diamonds over Congress Street or Green any day.
