That's interesting. I'd like to compare NEIPA using oats next to one using rye. Blind test.

If you get a chance to grab Ryeway to Heaven by Revolution Brewery in late Fall, you will not be disappointed.

    My review notes:

8/11/19 (Chicago): $7.58 12oz can canned 12/1/17 purchased 12/9/17 at Revolution Brewery, poured into snifter. Dark brown pour, light creamy off-white head lingers for a minute before leaving a creamy lacing. Amazing aroma, nice oak complementing raisins and plums makes up the fruit aroma, silky smooth whiskey and rye emerges next, this is an incredibly excellent, strong pleasant smelling beer. Tastes somewhat more subdued than the aromas, though strong. Light raisin fruit, subdued, very smooth whiskey follows. Rye forms a great base, this beer works very well. Texture amazing, very creamy and smooth. ABV noticeable as this warms. Fizzy carbonation remains after a dozen minutes, body full and rich, very smooth drinking. Overall incredible offering, I am glad I aged this one and looking forward to the remaining offerings on hand!

the vast majority of my beers have rye, in varying percentages from 15% - 75% and I've never had an issue in the mash

No wonder no one is really making many gluten free beers most of them seem to use buckwheat, millet, and oats. Sounds like a nightmare!

Based on the several I've had, I can attest that I am high on rye.

A local brewer, Discretion, makes a solid rye IPA. It's available in almost every restaurant I go to, kind of replacing Lagunitas IPA. I drink the hell out of it.

Green Flash had a really good rye ipa that I drank the hell out of a few years ago. The name escapes me and I'm too lazy to look it up.

I believe it was. I actually did look it up. That stuff was excellent. Come to think of it I don't think we get any Green Flash here anymore.

Barrier makes a rye IPA, it used to be called Ruthless but for some reason they had to change it, now it's called Evil Giant. They also make a rye DIPA called Hop Damn, but you get more rye spiciness in the lower abv beer.

I never had that one. I kind of wish I never thought of Road Warrior, I want some now. It's like unlocking a repressed memory.

+1 Riot Rye. Whenever I'm in the Maryland area.

I also home brew with rye in IPAs and stouts. Gives a different and nice taste change to a standard recipe.

I love rye. Definitely would like to see more rye beers being made, especially rye ipas. Maybe a rye barley wine or wee heavy? Haven't had that before, but I'd imagine that would be really nice.

I can see why rye beers are harder to find these days - the average craft beer drinker has moved towards beer that tastes like milkshakes and fruit juice. The rye character can be bracing and complex, like the roastiness of a black IPA turns off juice drinkers, is way on the opposite spectrum than those more approachable flavors.

That's too bad because they are missing out on a segment of tasty beers! Like people who don't try Dunkel or Schwarzber because they think it will taste too heavy or bitter or something.

Again with Schmaltz Lenny’s Bittersweet DIPA. Excellent beer. Once I got my hands on a 6er of Goose Island Rasselbock and I have looked for more every since. I loved it.
