I was cleaning up my home office yesterday and came across a few of these in one of my file drawers, relics of a better time for ABC.

    Cheers,

How can anyone trust "how Nelson used to taste back in the day" if they have not had it in many years?! Given how untrustworthy our memories actually are, our fickle tastebuds, and the dramatic change in hoppy beers recently in comparison to it's original form... I dunno...I believe you, but I also don't. Just sayin.

Anyway, Blissful Wizard is very good. Cans were still available yesterday.

Saw Nelson cans at Trader Joes today - as someone who placed OG Nelson as an all-time favorite and been profoundly depressed about all the batches I've had recently I didn't take the bait.

Thanks to those posting here for making me not regret that decision. What a shame though.

The only thing better than the OG Nelson is your user name ! Well played sir !

Was down at alpine yesterday and tried their new can releases, blissful wizard. Thought it was a nice attempt at a wc ipa. Light but still full of hoppy and grassy notes. Strata was more prominent than mosaic but for only $15 a pack, you can't beat it. They still had a lot in the pub, but godamm the pub was empty beyond belief at 6pm. It was like a ghost town at that place.

Pub as in original place with separate brewery at end? Or the restaurant down the street?

Ha, I always wonder this, too. Where do I actually go to get the cans? Such memories of the 'old' place; I used to work in El Cajon and would make a weekly run out to Alpine for bottles and growler fills. The link to the webcam of the to-go list was one of my 'favorites'. I was a hero to my friends back east because I could get Nelson whenever they wanted.

    Good times.

I would make my ABC Big 3 road trips every 3-4 months back in the day. Sometimes getting lucky and getting all 3 in one run with growler fills of course. 2 hours in. 2-2 1/2 hours back depending on traffic. Sometimes the wife would join the trip as a mule. I’d have to put up with her conversations during the ordeal. But it was worth it in the end. The food on the paper plates with plastic utensils was also great with the $4-5 pints. I’d always stop in Societe on the way back to HB for a growler fill or 2. Good times for sure. Glad to hear @Hype_Train took the trip to one time a world class brewery. Now just a has been.

I was tricked into buying a 6 pack of Duet last week. Bad decision. It wasn’t awful like eating an Arby’s beef and cheddar, but it also wasn’t rewarding. I’m sorry, you can pop on Purple Rain and reminisce about the good old days, but like Prince, Alpine is dead.

I don't know why you gotta come in here and lie about Arbys to make a point. Just say you didnt like it. Every one knows Arbys is the king of meats. Im more of a roast beef classic guy, myself but the point still stands.

I'll eat 5 beef and cheddars right now. But I won't drink 5 of these bastardized nelsons.
