Aslin Beer Co. (2019)

Didn't he just recently start at Aslin? If he was the one doing the BA sours, probably for the best cause those were not well made. They've also lost Joel and Richard recently. I think Joel is at Ocelot.

 

Yeah, Zack wasn't there very long. His IG account made it sound like he got some other opportunity and jumped on it. Agreed that his departure is probably for the best, though I now wonder if there's more driving the recent departures.

 

Been almost 2 weeks since they’ve released anything other than beer that’s been sitting in barrels for a year or so. Figured by now they’d be cranking out beers in Alexandria by now.

 

Anyone know what's available in Herndon? They haven't updated the terrible website they refer everyone to, since 9/30 and are not responding to requests on IG.

I noticed some construction on the downtown Herndon site, not much but more that's been done in the past 2 years.

 

It's updated. They just did it today.

 

The first Untappd rating for the IPA they released today, Tap Out, says it's Aslin's first Alexandria-brewed beer. I guess now we're going to start finding out how they perform using the higher-capacity equipment.

 

Sounds like these first couple beers aren't Aslin's best. They must be having a rough time on the new system if these are the first beers brewed in Alexandria, it's been open since mid-July. They haven't done a non-BA imperial stout since June.

 

Another collab today. Seems to me, you'd want to brew something you have done before on the new system in order to get it dialed in, not the random one offs.

 

They don’t care, put it in a can and it will sell.

 

I'm glad I tried Mule Fule before buying cans. It was so so acidic. It tasted like it was mostly lime juice. I had a similar but not as strong reaction to New Beer Idea, which was more orange juice acidic.

 

According to Aslin's Facebook post, they're doing growlers/crowlers in Alexandria.

 

Sounds like that hop burn is back!

They started growlers like a month ago, I think crowlers start today.

 

Ya I guess hop burn is the correct term, but man it was hard to get through it. If I had any sort of sore throat it would have been like drinking glass shards.

 

Love the 4.5 cap ratings on untappd mentioning a strong hop burn like it's a good thing

They had some thing for the game yesterday and gave out a free drink if you wore Nats gear, then they closed during the 7th inning, lol.

 

To be fair, there were only six customers left in the place by the time the 7th inning rolled around.
