50? Really? I’m interested....

 

I don't think there are a total of 50 different Kolsch's / Kolsch "style" beers available in Chicago over a 365 day period.

 

My Galaxy Bowl is a darker, turbid orange. It looks like a color you'd expect of a DIPA.

 

OK, 50 may have been a (slight) exaggeration. But that’s the only thing you can argue from my comment. I didn’t say it was bad, I enjoyed the take. Wouldn’t buy it again though. Hell, Goose Summertime is a better representation of a traditional Kolsch by far.

 

If there is can variation on GB then I lucked out with the sh!tty cans. Agree with @KCUnited with it being a muddy mess. A muddied mess of pineapple juice imo.

 

I was serious! Wasn’t being sarcastic at all. I am really enjoying the style and try to grab one when I see one I haven’t had. If I see that Goose, I’ll grab some.

 

Lu (Solemn Oath) and Ghost Ride (Rev) are also better IMO, so we’re up to three

 

Ghost ride is awesome. I’ll check for the other one next time I’m up there!

This version of GB is good, but reminding me of Juice is loose. Alcohol bite on it.

 

Google is only good as the person using it.

 

Maybe I didn’t say it clearly enough. The TYPE of hops used to make ipa do not affect the color.

hazy ipa is more susceptible to oxidation. It’s also possible that hop butcher chose to use a different grains than in the past. But I promise the galaxy hops with the appearance do the beer Shawn didn’t like.

 

This batch of GB is a good hazy DIPA. This current galaxy crop just isn’t as good as it was in 2016/2017

 

enjoyed GB, but it's just a slightly above standard offering now.

It was what I'd expect from Hop Butcher. It colors outside of the lines of what a kolsch "should" be. But for an Americanized version of a style that simply has no real reason at all to exist in October. It did fine.
