Beachwood Brewing’s newest location Steelcraft Garden Grove’s grand opening is tomorrow, Thursday. I suspect the soft opening is going on now?

Beerpaperla posted a picture on Instagram yesterday and it looked like it was open. Couple people in line, beers in hand.

Only for friends and family Josh. And their Facebook page said they are now open. Wrong. It was fake news. I drove there for nothing just now. But I did find some Revision bottles and cans on the way there. So I guess it wasn’t a total lose.

Beachwood releasing Thrillseeker in cans on October 16th. I think the last time I had it was in a bomber.
    Looking forward to it.

Street 3, Block 2 just tapped at HB. 1st pour. Coming in at 6.8%. Isn’t this a pale ale at 5.5? It’s tasting like a IPA. It’s got a skunk weed like aroma. Oh, did I mention this is their wet hopped version? Very good. Thank the Hop godz for wet season.

Beachwood is hosting a tap takeover at The Beer Temple in Chicago, a great place to visit for drafts and package beer if you ever are in Chicago. I never had a chance to have one of their beers, but will be at FOBAB and hopefully will be able to get both pours.

Any recommendations among the list below would be greatly appreciated. Based on the comments in the Pliny thread, I definitely plan on starting with a Amalgamator IPA.

    Thanks!

    Package:
    Amalgamator IPA
    Citraholic IPA
    Hayabusa Lager
Come in Grape, Your Time is Up - Zinfandel (FoBAB Submission)
    For the Love of Guava
    Careful with that Pluot, Eugene

    Draft:
    Amalgamator IPA
    Citraholic IPA
    Hops of Brixton ESB
Hayabusa Lager - Japanese-style Rice Lager
Mocha Machine Imperial Coffee Chocolate Porter
    Bourbon Barrel Sadie (FoBAB Submission)
Funk Yeah, Gueuze-inspired blend of 1,2, and 3 year old barrels

Come in Grape, Your Time is Up -Zinfandel (FoBAB Submission) Lambic-inspired ale fermented and aged in oak barrels with Zinfandel grapes
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Earthbound Misfit (Cherum) - Lambic-inspired ale with rye fermented and aged in oak barrels with cherums

Funk Yeah is an absolute must. Amalgamator would be my other suggestion

As a new devotee of beachwood I can personally recommend amalgamator and citraholic as top notch IPAs and Funk Yeah is great if that's your thing. Hayabusa was nice enough but not really my thing. Pretty much anything they make I'd take a shot at

All of those are great beers, but it's not hype pastry boi stuff.

With that in mind Hayabusa and Sadie may be a letdown depending on your expectations. However both IPAs are great, as well as the blendery beers. Mocha Machine personal favorite for just being a solid brew.

I’ve been to the Beer Temple many a times on my Chicago visits. What s great pub/store. I’m a mile n half from Beachwood HB location. I think you’ll like Amalgamator & CitraHolic. But don’t expect anything hazy from these guys. Too bad 28 Haze Later isn’t included. A good haze. I don’t do the Blendery much. But I can vouch for it as my very good friend Harrison is the head brewer.
So does this mean Beachwood will be distro’ing to Chicago? If that’s the case it would be nice to see some Pipeworks and/or Revolution come to SoCal or California.

Thank you everyone for your recommendations! I prefer WCIPA vs. NEIPA, so I'm really looking forward to Amalgamator and CitraHolic, as well as the recommended Funk Yeah and Mocha Machine. I'll make way to the FOBAB pours first thing at the festival, and may also purchase bottles/cans home from the Beer Temple depending on how the draft pours go.

I believe this is a one time visit / package availability scheduled around Beachwood's attendance at FOBAB, though it will be awesome if this was the start of Beachwood's distribution in Chicago. Per the Beer Temple's twitter feed, they have been trying to secure a tap takeover for years.

Unfortunately, outside of festivals, I wouldn't expect Pipeworks or Revolution SC distribution anytime soon. Pipeworks is focused on opening a tap room (been working on this for years), and don't have the capacity. Revolution would be the better bet, but they are slow and methodical making sure they are able to promote their product right in new markets, and are slowly working their way in the Midwest (Ohio / Minnesota).

Fortunately, I'm in Chicago twice a year. Pipeworks and Revolution, I'm familiar with but not Beer Temple, a situation I'll have to remedy next time I'm in town this January. Thanks for bringing up the guest taps.

On Beer Temple’s website hosts a continuous YouTube stream of their draft pours. They typically have a cask pour available as well, and have beers across most beer categories in their bottle shop, including many NEIPAs for those interested. The Great Lakes forum is a great place to visit fir current news. I learn a lot in the Pacific forum as well.
