Just curious how long Cafe Deth/reg Deth last on shelves in Chicago? I see Cafe is unlimited at the release this year so hoping that makes it easier to find as I won't be able to make the release this year.

A long time. They distro a ton of it. I still see it places months later. I know of a couple Binny's that had tar and cafe just a couple months ago, still.

Oh wow, okay Thanks for the info! I figured this would be the case with reg, but wasn't sure about Cafe. Awesome to hear for me as I've never actually found it in MI.

My experience was not the same as @ChiPez66 -- regular Deth and Straight Jacket lasted for months around me, but Cafe Deth lasted around a week before disappearing from stores. This was around the extreme north side of Chicago and surrounding suburbs (Evanston, Skokie, Niles, Lincolnwood, etc).

    Just an alternate viewpoint...

Cafe definitely goes quicker. It's also possible that places around me got multiple drops of it... really no way to know that, though. Both my beer guys at two different Binny's are no longer with those stores.

Any word on food truck for Friday? I am going to have a serious case of the munchies after trying all those great variants. Love these Rev DW releases.

Yup. Pretty sure I saw a single 4-pack remaining at Binnys SLoop about a week ago, and vaguely remember spotting it at Binnys Grand very recently too.

Cafe stayed around parts of Indiana until, about...2 months ago.

    Straight jacket left sooner.

Bet regular Deth tar (and some code switch in certain spots) is still around right now.

    Another data point.

My favorite place in Fort Wayne still has straight jacket in their cooler! Granted, just 3 four packs. I should go grab one more.

Same here. Regular and SJ were prevalent, particularly SJ which is still on some shelves in the burbs. Cafe Deth on the other hand goes fast, probably because there just isn't as much produced.

Western Burbs here, and I saw Cafe at least 6 months after the release, and in one Binny's, I saw it just a month or two ago. I know some of the southern burbs out towards Orland, Mokena, etc. also saw a very similar situation. So it was either multiple stores found it in the back... or they got multiple drops of it.

My experience was the same as GuyFawkes with Cafe. But the taproom had it available as well until about 3 or so months ago.

Appreciate all the input! If the taproom still has it available that long after I’ll just plan to snag some there when in town. I can probably trust them to keep it cold in the mean time!

At the Logan Arcade Deth’s Tar preview - Cafe is tasting great as advertised, not too roasty and I get a subtle and pleasant chocolate/mocha taste. Plum is very sugary, and very different (not surprisingly) from last year’s tart currants. Those looking for more “barrel” might not be happy but it satisfies the sweet tooth.

Tomorrows release won't be too insane right? I went to cafe release last year and assumed it would be similar for vanilla and a bunch would be leftover the next day... but vanilla sold out the day of. I was planning on getting there around 230 or 3 tomorrow.

It was SOOOO good. I made the minor mistake of having my girlfriend store extras that we had in the basement. Still a good beer, but not quite the same.

At The Garage NW Side. Same take. Plum extremely sweet, glad I tried. Going off of memory, but I believe this is their best Cafe Deth yet. Light incredibly rich and creamy, roast coffee aroma excellent, varied flavors throughout, somewhat sweet but not too sweet.

Will take discipline to get to a Deth’s Tar and not keep ordering Cafe Deth.

At 8 bit in Blooomington, Deth by Plums was very good I liked it better than Code Switch, sweet but not overpowering. Cafe was really good a little sweet up front but a nice roast on the back end but I prefer last years to this years just my palate though. This years regular Deth's is fantastic though much more complex than years past. And they had crowlers of all three to go as a bonus!
