Yes, the CW beers are definitely cheaper. I would say they are a notch below in terms of quality, but I realize many others feel differently.

I personally think the main problem with KBS is that it's overproduced, though. I think if they do start making less of "regular" KBS and making some variants and/or using the barrels for other beers, they will get better results.

Breakfast Stout is a nearly perfect coffee stout. I'd take it over a KBS/CBS any day of the week.

Smoking meat sounds like a great reason to drink all day. Then you can drink more when eating the BBQ, which is all I've ever done.

I think Deth is $25 and Cafe is $32 IIRC. And both are fantastic IMO. Excited for Deep Woods to start back up again soon. I agree on the CW stuff. Some of the releases this year have been fantastic- Rye Barrel, Vanilla Bean, and BW all seem to have a slightly richer mouthfeel than what I'm used to with them. Maybe that's a perception thing, but I'm sipping a Vanilla Bean right now and it's fantastic, and I was pretty meh on the bomber of it from the previous year. RBCP from this year had a big barrel presence too. And at $15-16 per 4 pack, it's a phenomenal price.

And while we're in the Founder's thread, I thought Underground was a steal at $15 a 4 pack for something BA'd for 18 months. I actually wish that beer had more of the coffee punch that Sumatra has and less barrel presence. Someone mentioned cutting it with some fresh FBS, which I plan to do with my remaining bottle.

You waited till your last bottle to cuvée?

Has BCBVS 2.0 taught you nothing?

Agreed, and I'm "borrowing" that FBS mix idea because it sounds delicious.

Well wet hop season is here and I’m always excited for Harvest Ale. Picked some up today and the bottle date is two weeks ago?

I know Founders is big now and there is probably a lot of organization to distribute but this is a style that should get out to the public quicker as these beers fall off so fast.

I also wonder how long the distributer has been sitting on it waiting for the release date?

It tastes good but I am wondering what it would have been like within the first week.

Are we really complaining about a bottle date two weeks in the past? That's really not that long at all.

I'm confused, did he pick up the beer two weeks after it was released and is complaining it isn't fresh or has he been going to the store everyday and it just came in?

That was my question after reading the post. Difficult to discern.

My bad - I am complaining about a wet hop beer taking two weeks to hit the shelves when I’m 90 miles away.

Sorry if it seems this is a crazy complaint, but if there is one beer you want as fresh as possible I feel this style is it. I’d just like to see effort to accomplish this.

Shoot, Shorts got Psychedelic Cat Grass to us overnight!

People's question that you haven't answered yet - did you pick it up the day the store got delivery? Point is, if it's been sitting on the shelf for 10 days but this is your first time going to that store, that's not on Founders.

I'm in agreement with @BWichmann74 here - considering the beer environment we're in now and the type of beer he's referring to, this should not take 10-14 days to get on the shelves. Pretty sure I've seen Lagunitas Born Yesterday on shelves around here the day or two after bottling, so it's not impossible.

You have and I have as well. Even here in MI Born Yesterday has arrived within 4 days of bottling each of the last three years.

Shock, maybe? I was actually in GR over the weekend. Was hoping to stop in, but it didn't work out. Now I'm glad it didn't.
