Anyone seen a price for a 4-pack? For $12-$15, I'm excited. For $20, not so much.

Anyone who remembers the gusher bottles of their BBA stout knows how far Odell has come. Hopefully this one is a KBS slayer in flavors and price.

We still have some stainless (non-BA) coconut available in the taproom. We will have some fun BA stouts on draft for Black Friday (and some other non-stout releases) but probably no new BA stuff in bottles. The barrels we have enough quantity of to make bottling worthwhile don’t seem like they will be quite ready by then. Cheers.

Does anyone know when Royal Oil typically gets released?

There isn't really a typical schedule for RO. The original version was draft-only back in 2007. That same batch re-appeared 2-3 times over the years, but was never sold in bottles.
The first bottled batch came out at their Christmas party in 2015. They released another batch at the same time in 2017. Yet the 2019 batch was released this Summer. The bottles that are on sale at Grapevine and the B&B are like 95% likely to be from that batch. Pretty sure they'll continue to trickle those out.
I don't think there is a planned winter release this year but they do have plans to release a new BA beer really soon.

I miss regular Lugene. Sucks they discontinued that one.

Did anyone go to the Epic BBB tappings at Epic last week? I like BBB but feel my pallet is less and less interested in the overly sweet BA offerings that seem to be the rage these days.

Grabbed a single of the Odell Barreled Treasure. On my first sips and I like it.

Don't remember the price but I think as a 4 pack it should be closer to the hoped for $15 dollar range than $20 range, but I could be wrong.

In the not so distant past, everyone always justified the high cost of barrel aged beers to be due to demand AND production capacity. Are we finally learning the truth that those $20+ 750 ml bottles were priced that way solely because of demand? Because I don't know what makes this $4-5 dollar 12 out bottled beer any different and lesser than those barrel aged beers from 5+ years ago.

Volume/perceived rareness have been a huge factor in prices imo

As for that particular beer, finally tried one today and definitely enjoyed it. As for the barrel factor, it was very minimal... the coffee element was waaaaaaay over the top, and I absolutely love coffee.. I’m definitely gonna stock up, but the imbalance on the coffee end is probably gonna turn people off.

I got enough barrel presence from it. Certainly no less than I have come to expect from, say KBS....another barrel aged coffee stout. I noticed more of the rum barrel than bourbon barrel by far.

Looks like Barrel-Aged Yeti is going to be in large-format cans this year.

Speaking of BBB, I tried tasters of the 4 new variants last week at the taproom. Found it interesting that some were significantly less barrel forward than others. The body left a little to be desired IMO. Vanilla Brandy was my favorite of the 4. I'm a big fan of regular BBB and some of the previous variants, but none of these really got me that excited... YMMV

Baptista was my favorite. Nothing else comes close. I took it personally that they cut it.

I went there and tried the new ones, but I was hestitant to reply because none of them wowed me either and my favorite was the Chocolate Rapture, but he said he was off the sweet stout train. The Brandy Vanilla was my runner-up with Peanut being my least favorite.
They were all good enough, plenty drinkable, but it seems the more they add the less I like it.
That being said, I still liked them well enough to grab 1 bottle of each, 2 of the Choc

Baptista is gone!?!?!?! this can't be real life. That was by far the best variant.

I reckon that I should have gotten more than just a Howler of it when it was on at Liquor Shed. :slight_frown:
