Good day BAs! Off to a rainy start today. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Running late - my son just called as his ship was coming in at NJ - back from a week in the sunny Atlantic.

This is obviously from last night but it's too cool not to include here. Went to one of my favorite local bars late last night and sat on one of the only empty chairs in the establishment. It just so happened to be right next to Will Rivera, the brand manager for Equilibrium who had taken over a bunch of the taps. The guy was super fun and chatted with me for some time about the brewery's plans and about craft beer in general. Tried the MC*2 and the Straight Outta The Laboratory. The former was a solid, complex but drinkable DIPA while the latter was pure peach and orange juice. Like some kind of TH Jjjuliusss on steroids. It was 10.2% but you couldn't tell. Amazing stuff.

Have a nice Sunday BA. Hoping to get a big beer haul today, haven't been to one of my favorite stores in a few weeks.

Still tasting fantastic. Aromas and flavors of huge mango, honeydew melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, spicy rye malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resin/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Minimal warming ABV, dangerously smooth. Insane dankness across the board. This is basically just imperial Born Yesterday IMO, very similar if not the same hops. Ekuanot, Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic was the first batch, probably similar here. This has all of the same dankness at a much higher ABV, while remaining well attenuated and not overly sweet for over 11.7%. Mosaic and Ekuanot are my favorite hops.

Waldo's is one of my favorite bottled TIPAs. So drinkable and it holds well. I try to grab as many as I can when it comes out. Enjoy!

Surly Coffee Bender. Amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery, char, roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Creamy/bready/grainy malts; some sticky hops, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing hop/roast bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringent. Super smooth, nicely soft, zero warming 5.5%. Amazingly rich and balanced dark/roasted malts and vibrant fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with solid earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. One of the best American Browns I've had. Significantly better than the base beer, but not as soft/silky according to my notes from 4 years ago. Will revisit it when I can.

Lovely damp morning for a walk to the park. Home now for my coffee...Our local TW had 5 cases of High West (2018) BA Victory at Sea out yesterday, so I grabbed a 4pk:

I won the costume contest last night...

The makeup washed out, but my old white beard is a dirty ginger this morning... Cheers and have a great Sunday!

Tasting incredible after 20 months. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, anise, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, raisin, plum, fig, date, and herbal/peppery hops and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Light sticky hops and chalky char/roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness. No cloying, acrid, astringent flavors. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.6%. Not as aggressively hoppy/bitter/charred as I expected for the style, but spot on RIS! Amazingly rich black/roast/bready malts; nice earthy hop balance and restrained English yeast fruitiness. Still have a couple left. I think there is still some on the shelf too. A lot of the high ABV Stone beers sit around for a while, yet are always worth the price.

Slightly hazy golden color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of fresh, bright, juicy hops.

Taste is a burst of fresh hop juice, so to speak, that strikes me as fresh and lively. Predominately citrus flavors with some floral touches. Complex and well balanced. A very capable brew that checks all the boxes.

Fremont Sky Kraken. Awesome NEAPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, strawberry, blueberry, gooseberry, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts, some sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, pretty refreshing, zero warming 5.5%. Awesome Citra, Mosaic, Strata profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great wheat/oat/malt backbone for the ABV. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Loved it, spot on stuff.
