It was also negative 1 million degrees for the VSOJ release, which probably affected turnout....it should (?) be much better on November 15th.

That was Vanilla Deth in December. VSOJ was in October.

It was like 50 in October for VSOJ. Was the first Rev release last year IIRC. Was VSOJ and Code Switch. So yeah, I don't expect you'll need to line up at 9am for VSOR, considering that.

I lol'd when I heard someone showed up to Cafe/Plums at 12 pm for a 4pm release. Good luck to anyone showing up at 9am for another 4pm release....

Huh, I must be mistaking VSOJ for Straight Jacket.

The funniest part? All of Tar, Cafe, and Plums have seen a ton of distro. Plums, not as much, but there are stacks and stacks of Tar and Cafe, and multiple Binny's I've been to have at least a dozen 4 packs of Plums on the shelves, also. I got all three... by waiting a week, and heading to the Binny's 5 minutes from my house.

If I had gone, I would have gone straight to the taproom and gotten pours of the stuff that I expected to kick quick, and then gone back for my to-gos once the line was gone.

Must be. Just looked, and I confirmed my previous statement that VSOJ/Code Switch was October 19th, and the first Deep Woods release last year. And like I said, it was like 50 degrees, and I got there around 2pm and was top 100, and VSOJ had far more hype than VSOR. So lining up at 9am for that release just sounds like insanity to me. I'd say you could get there at like noon or 1pm and still be top 50.

Umm, I think it's your friends that they are the ones making it into a shit show. There has been no need to show up for any of the Deep Woods releases early. (Please don't let this be me jinxing a future release)

We're all going to get to skip the line with our Rev Rewards cards anyway. Right!?!?

I'm actually mad I didn't buy more DT at the brewery to get more points. But I didn't know just how GD delicious it was since we were too busy drinking through the one-offs on tap at the release.

Oh I couldn't agree more. I'm banking on them being the only ones there for hours, but I've been surprised before.

You can still go back there and buy more to keep racking up points!

Back to Half Acre...has anyone done the fishbowl entry yet? I'm assuming it's up and running already. I was thinking of heading in this weekend to drop my name in.

So I tried my last 2018 Benthic last night. Ugh. Terrible, I had to drain pour it. I thought it was fantastic shortly after release, but this one was badly oxidized and slightly sour, with a vague taste of coconut.

Probably why they always post to drink fresh when it’s released. People aging heavily adjunct beers always blows my mind.

I rarely run into his issue, and chalk it up to a bad bottle more than anything...

I had an 18 Benthic like 2 months ago and it was still great. Still have one in there too. Had a double dose like 3 months ago, and also good.

Almost every brewery will tell you to drink fresh. Think there’s a valid point to that. Why wait and hope for the best?

Bad bottles of Benthic are not an uncommon thing. Read back on past releases. Again why they urge to drink sooner.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just voicing my experience. And most is gone fresh. I just try to save one for the next year's release, usually.

Yeah, I made that mistake a little bit this year. This Benthic and some of the adjuncted BCBS have really suffered quality-wise. Usually it's just flavors fading though, this is the first one that turned bad on me.
I got this one as a plus in a trade about 4 months ago, so I don't know how it was stored before I got it. Could have been kept in the sun for all I know.
