One more to end the day with.

    Cauallier from Saint Errant Brewing.

This beer, kindly sent to me by @FFFjunkie comes in an 8 oz can.

For a beer like this, I TOTALLY love the size. It is the perfect size to enjoy by myself.

The beer inside of said can is also damn amazing.

    look: 4.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Pours pitch black. Thick pouring. 1 1/2 finger brown head. The head retention is amazing for a 12% beer. Minimal lacing on the glass.
The nose has notes of chocolate, and caramel on it. Slightly sweet smelling.
Taste - The chocolate is really strong, and pleasing to me. There's a hint of roasted peanut in the background that backs up the chocolate.
The body is nice and thick, as expected.
This beer I'm totally digging. I also like that it's in an 8 oz can. Just a perfect size for a big beer like this.

This is it for tonight. See you all next Sunday, and throughout the week. Cheers.

    12 oz. can.
    Canned on 10/21/19.
Moderate pour yields a nearly one inch white head over a murky golden body with nice, sticky lacing. Nose of tropical, citrus, tropical, citrus, tropical, citrus fruit with a tad honey. Taste mirrors nose with a bit of white grape from the Nelson Sauvin hops punching its way through the tropical and citrus fruit. Nice feel and overall, another great offering in the S&S lineup.
    Cheers!

Evening, New Beer Friends and Family! I have a third new beer (coincidentally also a can) for this evening. I wasn't sure I was ready for a beer like this, but nothing else I picked up today really struck my fancy. So I'm diving right into Ommegang's Wine Barrel Three Philosophers.

Three-P is already my favorite American quad. I was really impressed with the bourbon barrel version (and picked up a can to see how the latest batch comes across). O-gang seems to really be kicking up their barrel aging project, perhaps a little late to the race, and are experimenting with Three Philosophers with a number of variants.

I have my doubts about these initiatives. Also, with their beers typically spending only three months in the barrel, it's another indicator that they may be going for gimmick over quality.

Well, all of those doubts are washed away at first sip. Like the bourbon variant, the wine barrel complements the Kriek and the overall brew perfectly. It's on the slightly sweet side of the quad flavor spectrum, delectably so.

Curiously, this beer isn't shy about showing its strength, with alcohol heat that shows mid-sip and builds through the finish.

This is overall excellent. If you're a fan of the base beer, this is 100% worth the asking price for a single or four-pack.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I remember when I made the decision to have my vet come over and for all us to say goodbye to dear old Lily, a fine yellow lab that made 14 years. We have a trail in the woods named after her, that we tread over years to now be a regular track. It's The Lily Trail.
Now I have Otis, a Treeing Walker Coonhound that is the smartest dog I've ever had. He speaks, watches the sky and is amazed by contrails, clouds, the Moon, barometric changes, and things I'll never know. I almost cannot imagine not having his great spirit daily, but dogs are a firm part of my being and they will lend me strength for as long as I live.

    Hey NBS!
Been away a few weeks, busy at the restaurant. Im back today and celebrating a bit by having a couple new beers. Late start today as last night was a great one. Took home Top Dish at the Festival of Meals- honoring Meals on Wheels. My New World Cuisine Duck Taco took the trophy- up against some good competition.
Saw this today. Imperial Cream Ale!
Whaaaat??!! Dogfish Head ( who else!)
Suddenly Comfy ICA with Apple Juice,
    Cinnamon, Allspice and Vanilla Beans.
Pours a golden amber color with a off white head that dissapears quickly leaving a thin ring and no lacing.
Aroma is juicy apple pie! I mean seriously - cinnamon, vanilla and apple with cinnamon dominating.
Taste is again alot of cinnamon with sour granny smith apple and vanilla on the finish. Its tart first with a tad of sweetness. The malt sits in the background with some dough and barely a discernable hop presence.
Feel is lighter in body than what you might think with all that is going on. Has that crisp finish and is also quite dry as the cinnamon oil coats the tongue.
Holy crap this is fresh apple pie in a glass. IMO this is way better than a pumpkin beer for the holidays. I could easily see this at my dessert table at Thanksgiving. Only complaint I have is they could have dialed back the cinnamon. First Imperial Cream Ale I can remember having and boy is it original. 10.99 a 4 Pack and worth a try. 8% ABV BTW. Have a great one!

Lone Pint Brewery's The Jabberwocky, an American imperial IPA, 8.5% ABV, 114 IBUs

Columbus and Citra hops for days and days in this one ... the aroma and flavor are a neverending stream of citrus, citrus peel, some green herbs and a little grass. Grapefruit dominates, but there's some orange and lemon in it too. At times its bitter bite is fierce, but Lone Pint isn't lighthanded with the malt (Golden Promise and pilsner malt if you're scoring at home), and Jabberwocky has that classic biscuity malty pop that I'd argue is Lone Pint's signature, even more so than their use of hops.

    The official review:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30380/92697/?ba=Premo88#review
    4.32 (rDev +12.5%)

Lone Pint's one third of what I think of as the holy trinity of Texas craft breweries (Jester King, Live Oak, Lone Pint), so you have no idea the restraint I'm showing in that 4.32 rating. Shockingly, it's BA overall ranking right now is 3.84, but maybe I'm the moron here. Wouldn't be the first time.

Speaking of morons, I got to see the Sound & Fury boys (minus Patrick, plus Patrick's fill-in whose name I forget) today at RenFest, and holy crap ... seriously, even if you're not a Rennaisance Festival kind of person, do yourself a favor and go see the greatness of Sound & Fury if and when they come to your neighborhood. I think I lost 3 lbs. of water weight from all the cry-laughing I did watching their performance today:

A local rarity, Ivory Bill Brewing CO.'s 2019 Bourbon Barrel IMP Stout. 10.0% ABV; 3.93 overall. It was better on tap a 8 days ago...

Pours an effervescent Mahogany with rapidly falling tan head. Viscous, zero head retention or lacing

    S: Dark Fruit & vaniila

T: Follows the nose, oaky dryness, some vanilla up front. Figs, vanilla, a little bit of barrel as this warms, plenty of dryness, a little coffee too. Finishes dry with leafy hops, oakyness, a little vanilla, figs & just a kiss of Bourbon

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation; carbonation smooths out as this warms

This was better on draft, the barrel was more front & center, plus other flavors were stronger

Room for one more, as we go into the second half: Space Ways, a NE-style IPA from Modern Times.

This is a wonderfully smooth and juicy IPA, with the emphasis on tropical fruit, although that could be a factor of catching the Mosaic hops at the one month point - much later and this might become a more dank brew. Not a lot of citrus going on, either.

I don't get a lot of depth or complexity, but it's very tasty overall, without question, and a very enjoyable beer. Easily worth picking up by the four-pack, if you're fortunate enough to find it.
