Have a nice Monday BA. It’s quite chilly out and finally had to break out the long sleep pants within the last week. Took a complete day off alcohol for the first time in a while, yesterday. Also got about 18 hours of sleep through the day and water fasted for the entirety. That being said, I’ve been up since 10PM. Vaping on a weird concoction of e-juice, consisting of last bits of a few bottles. It tastes pretty great though. Kind of like a mixture of peanut butter and fruit roll ups.

Epic Big Bad Baptist Reserve. Fantastic again this year. Great head retention and soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, rum, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, fudge brownie, molasses, licorice, smoke, char, dark fruit, and herbal hops. Increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not too overwhelming. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/rum/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Light sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannin dryness. No cloying, acrid, astringent flavors. Very smooth/soft sipping. Mildly increasing warmth of 11.6%, with minimal lingering barrel booziness. Not as amazing as the other variants, but still impressive. The coffee and coconut are really lacking. Feels a bit more heavy on the barrel presence(especially rum), but not overwhelming. Would buy again. Looking forward to reviewing all 5 new variants that came out this year. Will happen very soon.

I should listen to more Steven Wilson solo stuff moving forward, especially with my Prog Rock addiction the last few weeks. Yesterday was his 52nd birthday.

Good morning Spak and all of you BA.

Like him I took a day off beer (but not wine for a change) and back here now with 3 Monts which you can find in America in 750 bottle at a not so cheap price. Better have these small bottles, for merely 1,50€.

Lord Hobo Pineapple Glorious. Awesome NEIPA. Aromas and flavors of big lightly tart/tangy pineapple, tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, onion, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts, some sticky hops; light resins/rind, and fruit tang in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no cloying/astringency. Very smooth/soft, not aggressive, minimal warming 6.5%. Feels like Columbus/Summit along with the Galaxy hops. Super juicy/vibrant hops/fruit, with some dank/earthy notes; and a great balanced clean bready malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. This was a lot softer and less aggressive than the base beer. Would get again.

I'm watching weird shit from Ashens on YouTube again. No regrets.

Surly Furious. Fantastic as usual. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light roast/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 6.7%. Fantastic Simcoe, Amarillo, Ahtanum profile. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. Will be in the fridge rotation for a long time to come.

Good day BAs! Another chilly morn, but warmer than yesterday. The car frost is still pretty thick however, despite the cloud cover. Today's New Breakfast Beer, from the Costco advent calendar:

I'm imagining the flavor being similar to that of when you were a kid and would mix multiple sodas at the fountain. It always came out tasting the same no matter what you did....

Amazing NEIPA as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, zesty, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; very creamy, bready, grainy wheat/oats, and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very dank/juicy hops, with perfect wheat, oat, malt malt balance. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness, amazing soft feel. Super easy drinking. Glad to have this as a year round available beer. This is one of my top most purchased beers ever at the moment. It just doesn't get any better for the style vs availability. Every Old Nation NEIPA is better than most anything else I've had in the state. DDH is just as impressive; but a bit more bitter, resinous, dank, and earthy.

That is quite the effervescent glassware, sir. You must be in need of oxygen, has the room in which you are failed you from a climate control perspective? I'm your BA boy.

Clear light gold color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of bready malt with floral, spicy hops.

Taste on entry is malt forward with hops not far behind. Malt flavor has a rich depth and hops come across as more herbal than floral with spiciness remaining. There is a slight hop firmness resolving with a touch of bitterness that offsets the malt nicely.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Altogether a very competent Lager with good complexity.

I’ll have another, a second round of sort hours later. By the way @lordofthewiens “Joker” was great, dark, deep and well acted. Cheers!
