Has there been a list of variants yet for the SJ/VSOR release?

Nope. Rev Rewards members got the news first.
    New batch
Not yet, still tasting them out and writing the descriptions. We usually post those about 1 week prior to the event. No we don't need any help with that :sunglasses:.

Way late to the party, but this year's Deth's Tar is unreal. Even going in with high expectations from this thread, I'm really, really impressed.

@Veliksta1 were there any older (12+ months) barrels blended into this? I'm getting some VSO_ vibes.

Not going to find the post, but he said up to 48mo aged barrels blended. (So 12-48mo barrels used.)

Okay, so I didn't imagine that. I remembered a post about blending, but didn't remember if there were ages thrown around. It definitely tastes like it's got some age on it.

Boy am I excited for this upcoming release. Didn't get to try Strawberry Jacket over the summer so this is a nice little treat. While I really like Rev stouts, the barley/ryewines are some of my favorites. Had my last VSOJ yesterday evening and I'm pretty sure I saw whatever god exists in this universe.

Yikes - that's a nice price increase from the $30/4pks that Rev is selling them for.

My local store in NW WI is selling for the same price. I asked if I could purchase a 4-pack and they said “Yes, $40”. I only bought a single to get a taste. Maybe I’ll go back for more if it hits all the marks... after all it really is my only option to try Cafe out here without too much effort.

Ouch on the price this year, but then the tears in my current cup of coffee are an internal reminder that I'd STILL be buying multiple 4 packs if I could out here... *sniff*
Y'all have a few for me, ya hear?

I don't think it's terrible going from ~$7.50 a can in the 4-pack to $10 when it's broken up. Not ideal, but you're still saving $20 if you just want to try it on your own time.

Now this kinda sucks. Hopefully you'll find it somewhere else!

I'm visiting Chicago for the first time next weekend (15th). I was already planning on going to Revolution, but now I am definitely going to go for the release. How do releases typically go there?

Are you planning on getting cans or do you just want to taste the drafts only stuff?

I will probably care more about tasting stuff on draft but I would love to have some cans to bring home to share with my beer group as well.

It also all hinges on my bus not being terribly delayed since I'm supposed to get into the city in the early afternoon.

If you only care about drafts, there is the regular entrance on Kedzie and opens at 4. If you want cans there is the service/garage entrance down to the right as you look at the building. People will probably start lining up early afternoon. It goes quickly. @Veliksta1 pours one of the three cans for people standing in line. Depending on how many people are there you can probably go in and get some drafts then head back out after the line dies down as some of the more sought after one off variants can kick. There are limits (2 4-packs) on VSOR (Very Special Old Ryeway) and Strawberry Jacket and I can't speak to how quickly those will go. Straight Jacket will not run out so you'll at least be able to get some of that.

Awesome thank you. I've been very limited in my ability to try Revolution since they don't distribute down to STL. I'm excited to get there to try some stuff.

Now I just need to hope the bus has my back. Either way I'll be hitting the brewery that weekend.

@Veliksta1 Can you speak to the threads included in SJ this release (can’t say this year because last release was in 2019 also)? Given the threads in DT this year, and the difference between 2018 and 2019 SJ, inquiring minds want to know!
