Agreed - I personally wish all stouts were onsite only for that reason.

 

i would be fine with BBT being on-site. i would also be fine with it being a last minute announcement like Tete or BA Coco Vibes. you can’t make everyone happy but i feel like SP is pretty damn fair. allocations based on turnout. holding bottles back for on-site. cellar anniversary week & SP anniversary party are great ways to catch up on big bottles one might like to try.

 

I have no inside info either, just discussing.

It would benefit me for it to be a public daily release because I’m in town all 3 days (even though my pickup is only 1 day) with my wife so would stand in line all 3 days and leave with 6 bottles. There are 2 dozen ppl I know coming and doing the same thing (staying all 3 days) and would line up every day.

If they have this scenario all week this would need to be an enormous batch with 2,000+ bottles. Just not sure SP will want to have to deal with large lines and crowded cellar at open every day that week and risk not having enough to last thru Sunday. We’ll know soon enough!

 

same here as far as being in town and lining up. i can understand the line situation and batch size issues too though.

 

One reason they may do an additional bottle every year is for those ppl traveling in to SP to get their bbt bottles to have something else to take with them to share as this may be the only time they can visit. I have some ppl I know coming that due to distance they just can’t make the trip more than 1-2 times a year.

I’m fortunate to be in driving distance to come into town 15+ times a year but they are not. I like they idea of them having some additional SP love shared (no pun intended) with them as a thank you for coming.

 

SP already has a bunch of bottles available to go most of the time. Sounds more like you're saying that these people making the once a year trip only care for the black sludge.

 

Yea, this line of reasoning does not do it for me when there are plenty of to go options. Why is traveling in for a release different from traveling in period? Plenty of people travel in when a highly touted release occurs, even when it is onsite only. There’s not always an especially nice bottle to go those times.

But that’s a great point about the onsite list. I’m betting several of those get purchased as well Black Friday weekend. Rose Du Pays that’s available right now is fantastic! Grabbed some bottles last weekend after driving in for D12.

2 questions

Are the candles anniversary brews "still"? I can't remember if that was the case or not. Also why is it 6 candles when this is their 5th anniversary?
