What they don't mention in the IG post is that it's going into distro this week via 12%.

nevermind, it is cheaper at every beer store in the city carrying it. makes no sense, and is a huge bummer considering I ran to ETnyc thinking it would be non-distro or at the VERY least, cheaper than distro.... such a weird choice Jeppe. Definitely think twice before you go there to buy retail.

Breweries such as ET which have heavily relied on distribution and stores to get their beer into hands of customers routinely price their beer higher at the source once it becomes available. At a time when they did not have a brick and mortar brewery, 12% was the only way to get their beer out to the public. Therefore, to not pull the rug out from underneath their original source of income and price them out (distribution, stores), they allow the beers to be sold for less at stores. You used to see this often with breweries selling growlers for more at the brewery than at stores before canning became the preferable format. It’s bad business to price out businesses you’ve relied on in the past.

Also, which I did not notice before, this beer was not brewed at their NYC location but in SC. Since it was brewed in SC, they most definitely had a deal with 12% to provide them with a portion of the bottles. I bet this beer is being sold in SC as well, which ET has no say over pricing in that state.

this all makes a ton of sense, just not what I expected considering their cans are way more expensive in stores. It is maybe my first time, personally, seeing something at a better price AFTER distro. Also his bottles in stores are usually $30+ so i guess my assumption was it would be closer to that price point in the stores... ultimately not a huge deal just found it weird

Seems like they could have just mentioned that bottles would also hit shops in the original post...

Except for the fact that the taproom was absolutely slammed Saturday Afternoon and it wasn't from people there to buy 17.2% Maple Bourbon Stout bottles.

hate to break out this cliche, but if even one person went there to get the bottle because they thought it was brewery only, then the taproom was more “slammed” than it would have been if they acknowledged that it would hit distro.

Went to ET today to taste Straight outta Lab Marshmallow. Really liked it and noticed significant difference to the regular version, which is one of my favorites. Taproom was the opposite of slammed, maybe 5 customers hanging out on a perfect day. The ET sours can be really good-- they had the omnipollo collab (berries with maple, similar to the crunchee, breakfast Gose) on tap, and it was great.
On off hours the brewery can be really nice to visit; employees were super friendly and one of the brewers was there as I ordered and couldn't be nicer. Had a really interesting conversation to top of a really nice visit.

I was talking to one of the brewers the other day and I believe the American Solera collab is a Barleywine? Idk beyond that.

I ordered a box and got an email from them the other day - I was pumped, hoping it was the listing of what the beers would be. Nope. Instead it was just a note from someone at ET reiterating pickup windows etc.

They're teasing it more on IG, though, and just posted a pic of all of the cases in a storage room either already packed up or ready to be packed.

Should be soon that we know all the deets.

I know it's a tired topic and one Jeppe is baiting us into but I can't get over how embarrassing the names are. Does he want everyone to know that he's a recent NYC transplant? I was at the taproom yesterday and decided when I ordered the rounds, I would fully embrace the cringe and I made sure I read every word of those stupid, unmemorable names to the bartenders.

Cool space besides that. Would love to be in the outside area in the spring.
