Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough, but do we get any of Rodenbach's beers anywhere in Texas? I've gotten them a few times in the mail, and they're delicious. Their newest vintage is way better than Duchesse or Monk's Cafe.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

As far as I'm aware, it's only available in the DFW area. My favorite locally-available substitute is Liefmans Goudenband (though I have a Grand Cru and a Vintage 2007 in my pantry).

I tried that the other day, I think that's my least favorite so far.

OKC just got Rodenbach's beers in this month, I'm sure someone would be friendly enough to trade with ya.

I know I've seen Rodenbach at Spec's Dallas.

Only in DFW in bottles. Houston gets kegs every now and again.

We opened an 07 Vintage over Thanksgiving. It was delicious...but we all thought it was on the back end of its peak.

It's a very tart beer, in the most delicious way possible. Really reminds me of what La Folie used to be (pre-pasteurized bottles), but maybe not quite as tart. Very close though.

I'd say tart/sweet combo, not all sour which I personally prefer. Delicious regardless.

Cool. Just wondering, because I've the regular and just had the 2010 Vintage a few days ago, hoping the grand cru is just as great!

At ~$8 a 750 for the Gran Cru it's my go to sour. The regular is not tart enough. Compared to recent La Folie (12-13), Rodenbach is just better and cheaper and always on the shelf.

    You win this one, DFW.

You don't think the Grand Cru is sour? I'll give you that the regular Rodenbach (non-grand cru) is a tart/sweet combo, but Grand Cru is pretty damn sour. Just like I like it.

It's sour but I think most Cascades (ie Sang Royal, Sang Noir, etc) are more sour.

Comparing most things to Cascade is not really fair.

Lol, true. It's not that I don't think the grand cru isn't a great beer, it is. For my taste, I prefer most Cascade sours and they seem to have a little more pucker factor. Just my opinion, to each their own.

Jacobins and Petrus Oud Bruin are the only really puckering shelf sours I can think of.

I wish those Sour Power 6 packs were Monks Cafe + the two mentioned above. I would buy em all the time
