So there was never not a line for VSOR cans?

I may be mis-remembering but I thought there was a window, albeit brief, when VSOJ was available with no line last year--no?

I don't think VSOJ and VSOR releases are equal comparisons. VSOJ was not the hype beast it ended up turning into at the time of its release. Now anything labeled as 'VSO' will certainly have people's extra attention imo. Were VSOJ ever to be released again, well, I almost shudder at the thought of that line.

Yeah, even at the time people knew VSOJ was special. At this point I almost don't want it to come back because it'll bring about Armageddon.

Had my first Cafe tonight (of the new release).

    Honest review:

One of the best coffee stouts that I have ever had, but you could tell me it was a coffee stout and not a BBA coffee stout, and I would believe you. The Barrel is so subtle that I hardly get it. It melds well into the coffee, which is not a positive aspect for me. That said, it is very difficult to impact strong coffee flavor AND have barrel presence. It’s tough.

I would be happy with having a 4 pack of this. One every so often for a few months. That’s about as much as I’d want, but I am not a coffee stout addict like I am a coffee addict.

The viscosity of the beer was great.

Best Cafe of the last 3 years.

Room for improvement for the furure.

Give it three years -- once the coffee fades it'll be barrel-riffic!

Though now I'm curious as to whether they use the "final" version of DT for CD or whether they create separate blends for each....

See my comment in the other thread (and below)

Yeah, this was confusing. I went in at about 4:25 to get pours, tried to come back out to my spot in line, a guy told me I needed to walk around the front of the building. I said "on the street with these 2 beers"? He said yes. So I went to the door guy and said "uh, they told me to come here". He naturally said "yeah dude, you can't bring beer out on the public street - this ain't Key West". So then I went back through and they eventually let me back to my spot through those doors. Like you said, clarification would be nice. My preference would be to let people drink them in the loading dock, but if they don't want to or can't do that - no problem, just would be helpful to have, as you said, clarification.

Moving this here as it seems more relevant in this thread. I'm not saying there is much I think they should do. I understand Rev releases are too large to go cash only, and I understand they are going to want to include the cans that haven't yet sold out from the last release.

Just pointing out that it is a big release with something around a 2 hour time commitment - and for me, I could wait from 2 to 4:45 but could not have waited from 4 to 6. Agree - that means more time total, it's just which time is the most ideal.

To be clear, I don't take issue with everyone lining up; I 100% understand your issue (needing to leave earlier rather than later), and don't blame you for lining up when you do. It was more a statement about lining up excessively early (a totally subjective concept, of course); sort of like how people line up earlier and earlier on Black Friday each year.

I'm confused why so many people on here are lining up for all the releases when you should be getting the expedited line pass. Wait, maybe I shouldn't mention that.

pre-order sheets sound like a great idea for releases of 3+ beers. would definitely have an impact on expediting the line.

or perhaps have 4 out of the 6 the POS dedicated to full allotment purchases only.

they could then stack the pallets of beer accordingly to ensure the most optimal way for the employee to retrieve the beer.

I think the full allotment thing is tough because of the factors above - what means "full allotment"? Straight Jacket was unlimited, Strawberry Jacket was a late add-on, there were 3 other beers available from the previous release at no limit. They could set a standard allotment, but I don't think they want to do that (I understand why they wouldn't want to).

Agree, pre-order sheets would help. Also, they ask if you are in the rewards program, and if not and want to join they sign you up. That adds some time.

Shhh! I have 695 points and plan to hit Rev Saturday while in the city to put myself over 700 with the reasonable expectation that 700 is the new 600 (which was the new 500).

I think the idea of an order sheet like Pipeworks has was discussed last year so that when you get "inside" you had have a sheet to fill out and just hand to the person with a place for Rev Rewards number too. Personally the system they have going is good with me. It doesn't seem like it takes all that long.
