I should preface this with the fact that since around Spring 2018, I've loved this brewery. Weathered Souls did a pop up at Jester King as a featured brewery and poured Cavnerous among a few other imperial stouts. I thought they were amazing and was excited to finally have a legit new school/pastry/thicc/whatever stout brewery somewhere close by, and in Texas.

I visited the brewery earlier this year for a bottle release (which got pushed to the following week). I tried 2:10 to Bedford on draft and it was clearly tart/infected. They sold the bottles anyway and didn't acknowledge it.

Yesterday I gave them another try. I attended their 3 Year Anniversary party and while I had a great time, I was pretty disappointed with the quality of several of the beers.

I bought a VIP ticket and went with a couple buddies. One of the VIP-only pours, named just "BA Stout" was clearly infected. Couldn't believe they would serve this at their anniversary event, let alone as a VIP pour. A few of the other stouts were landing in the "tart" territory as well.

I'm posting this more to ask if anyone else has had similar experiences? When did all this start happening? Maybe it's just what I've had? Would love the quality of the stouts they were making back in 2018 again.

hm apparently you aren't the only one. Some reviews here and on Rate Beer, and Untappd mention infection and gushers. One pic on untappd shows a picture of part of the glass ripped off the top of the bottle for the Stoutlaw Josey Whalez

I live right by Weathered Souls and have had a ton of their beers. I have had some NEIPA's that tasted slightly infected and few stouts that were a tad tart. When they are on point their beers are great, but they are inconsistent. Their Vietnamese French Press stout was pretty awesome about two months ago. I think they also overprice their big stouts and DIPA's. I just spent a weekend in LA and visited a lot of great breweries. The pours at breweries in LA costed $2-$3 less for the style of beers.

Their beers are certainly hit or miss and wish they were more consistent.
