I'm making my first trip down next Tuesday for BBT, any tips for a first timer? Also, anyone interested in sharing some stuff on site?

 

You can get half pours of everything on draft, which will allow you to try more. You can typically find someone sitting (or 2 or 3) to share vintage bottles with. They have a rotating list of vintage bottles at the cellar and brewery that change daily/weekly. Obviously you gotta try BBT, but don't miss out on some of the other bottles for on-site consumption.

FWIW, the bartenders hate it when people ask if they have random Derivations available or if they will make an exception and sell them a Derivation because they are from out of town. I see this happen constantly and I can attest that it is pretty annoying. Have fun and don't forget to hydrate.

Are they cool with people drinking bottles of stout solo? I’ve heard of someone breweries that make you split them.

 

They are cool with it. It is a 1-bottle limit per person when solo'ing.

I have been to other breweries that only allow bombers of stout split between 2 people (Trillium in your neck of the woods). Seems like a superfluous rule.

my thoughts exactly. as much as i look forward to BBT (and hopefully another big stout / BW / strong ale), having a good saison or wild ale to mix it up is key.

Love that beer. Traded for a couple of bottles this summer and thought it was great. Drank one, shared the other, and everyone agreed it was excellent. Really well done and a stunner at that abv. Reminded me of Table Dorothy from Hill Farmstead.

 

i’m hearing rumblings that LC members get a bottle of BBT this year. can anyone confirm that?

 

This beer is so clutch to have on big stout weekends to cleanse your palate at 2.5% abv or whatever it is. Incredible the amount of flavor with so little alcohol
