While in Edinburgh tasted a cask ale (unpasteurized) at The Old Bell Inn that was best ever tasted...owner of Barony House is an Aussie that said “once you taste a cask ale here everything else tastes like piss”..his words not mine, nonetheless it was a great recommendation and so far the closest ale to that here is a Belgium Style White Ale brewed by Unibroue- Blanche De Chambly. Looking for similar Ales ...must be unpasteurized, unfiltered. Any suggestions?? Cheers
I'm not sure about Dallas itself. But Division Brewing in Arlington has a beer engine. In the past they always had a dark mild on it which was good but I always thought a tad more roasty and sometimes astringent than I wanted for the style. Right now they have a "Irish Stout" that is more of a Black IPA. I also don't know if it's actually comparable to the British cask ales or if they just hook up regular kegs to it. But they do have lower carbonation.
I love cask ales, I worked in Aberdeen and traveled around Scotland a while. One of the coolest things ever IMO. I would try The Gingerman or The Flying Saucer as they are known to have some, but it has been so long since I was in Dallas I can't say for sure.
