Oh, that's a great one. I'm only able to sometimes get it because a local bar owner periodically picks some up at the source (he's an Oregon St. grad).

That’s such a great beer. I forget who gave me Sticky Hands in person that first time (I gave it to myself once) but...

...noted you haven’t had the relatively nearby conglomerate-owned offerings before.

Thank You to @lordofthewiens for the Good Morning story and intro. Not a golfer. Im usually spending my freetime making music. Love playing guitar and singing and drumming etc.
Right to beer because Im fired up for:
    3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze
Cuvee Armand and Gaston Lambic aged in oak from 7 different barrels with Honey added. Holy shit.
Pours a beautiful clear amber/gold with a large foamy white head that settles to a thin ring that dissapears rather quickly.
Aroma is green apple, pear, lemon, hay, leather, cherry, fresh bread, funky barnyard/ripe cheese and wood.
Taste is tart green apple, oak tannins, apricot, lemon, orange, pineapple, funky/cheese, leather. You get just a tiny bit of sweet from the honey. Just amazing. Its like a great Novel making you want to look forward to the next page (sip) to see what you will discover.
Body is medium/light with just enough effervescence throughout. Finishes very dry from tannins. Leans slightly towards tart rather than sour.
A real treat to be able to try this beer and one that I feel needs multiple tastings to really discover all the complexities within this gem. Hopefully my review does this justice because this was just phenomenal.
Cheers all! May be back later.....[IMG] [IMG]

Fantastic beer. I still prefer the original by a hair only because I'm obsessed with as much pine as possible in my IPAs, but this version was a wonderful treat.

Yup. The one in discussion is their recent release, Greatest Hits Vol. 1. A lovechild of the best attributes of various versions of past Sticky Hands. A sort of bukak.... Never mind. I think you get it.

What a great review. You just cannot make that verbiage up; it's a nice balance between fine writing and sensory impression.

Oh jeeze... Notch has a side label so they can do 6% ABV IPAs? :worried: I’m not holding it against them, it’s just disappointing because it gives the impression that it’s inevitable in this marketplace. Even if those side beers are great and “Notch” beers keep a strong presence, it’s very existence still ultimately signifies a loss for drinkers and diversity.

Hello NBSers. I have a couple of beers from NBS BIF #10, the first a kolsch (!!!) from @2beerdogs and Bottle Logic (!!!).

The very slightest bit of haze accentuates this beautiful golden straw colored beer that features a frothy white head that practically demands you plant your nose just above it and grab a big whiff.

So you do, and you’re immediately transported to a steamy summer day, right after you mow your grass, where you’d consider cutting off two fingers on your left hand (you’re a righty) to have a full-flavored beer or three to quench your thirst without a lot of alcohol that’ll knock you out.

This is that beer. It’s got the lemongrass and bready aromas and flavors associated with the style, and it’s full-bodied, to the extent that you repeatedly check the can to ensure this flavorful beer is truly only 4.5% ABV.

I’d pound this in the summer like a carpenter pounds 16-penny nails if I had regular access to it. Maybe my favorite of the style I’ve had, Bottle Logic is magnificent, IMHO.

So far at least, the majority of the beers have continued to be traditional. I don't think the IPA % is much different than it is for their core Notch lineup, though I haven't run any numbers.

The Voll beers I've had so far apart from the present example have been a doppelbock, a German Pils, and an Export Helles.

ETA: forgot that I did have a Voll NE IPA on draft once. It was, unsurprisingly, very good and to my palate better than most.

Thanks! I read your review first, which was spot on! I came in a bit higher on the overall rating but it think we rated the taste the same. It was a great beer.

I was not a fan of Chingas. I found it way too sweet, and not hoppy enough. No where near in the realm of Epitome, based on the taster I had.

For my fourth, and very likely final, new beer of the day, I'm circling back to @SammyJaxxxx . He sent some amazing bottles that I'm determined to share, even if just at my "local" in Jax (huh; symmetry!), but I'm going to treat myself to this one tonight, as I'm really in the mood for a big BBA imperial stout.

This is Kane's A Night to End All Dawns.

(Flash used, as the bottle is so dark it came out unclear without.)

I'm going to sum this one up pretty quickly: this is an all-world BBA imperial stout, a near-perfect example of the style. If someone were to ask you, "What does a BBA imperial stout taste like?" this would be a wholly appropriate beer to hand them.

A fantastically deep nose, restrained at first, but rewarding the more you savor. Incredibly easy mouthfeel, with a strong back-end heat but no sting at all, allowing you to sit with the brew on your palate as long as you'd like. The flavor perhaps doesn't quite live up to the nose, but it's by no means a let down, and in a world of flavored stouts, a no-adjunct BBA AIS (almost RIS with the level of roast) is refreshing, especially one as well executed as this.

Thank you, yet again, Greg. I'll be diving in for a second glass soon enough.

Last one for today. This beer is highly rated by many, and is the #1 rated English Stout, so I've finally decided to try it.

    Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout
    ABV: 5.0%
    IBU: 28

Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, and more chocolate. Smells like a chocolate malt.

Deep black, with visible carbonation bubbles. Dark ruby with a backlight. Tall tan head - so tall the 355ml (12 oz to us cretins in the USA) bottle overflowed the Imperial pint glass a little. Anyhow, the head is thick and creamy, with good retention, leaving a dome in the center as it does recede. Nice looking lacing, rings with dropping fingers between the rings.

Taste is chocolate, cocoa powder really, with a nice counter from the hops and malts, making the taste have a bit of berry, nuts with just a bit of coffee coming from the malts. No bitterness at all. However, as the beer warms, the taste develops an almost artificial flavor. I know the label says this beer is all natural flavors, organic, and all that, but still it becomes a bit of a struggle to finish the last 25% of the glass if you let it linger too long. Prior to that, though, it is quite enjoyable, if you like cocoa!

Mouth feel is moderate toward the thin side, a little carbonation feel, but creamy and smooth.

Overall, a well done stout, with the chocolate dominance the brewer was going for. But, the flavor as it warms knocks it down a bit for me.
