Not sure if only isolated to adjunct beers... Picked up a can of Dark App and it was terrible. Metallic and just tasted off. Down the drain it went. Between three of us, none of us liked it.

 

What you're describing isn't indicative of infection issues, just poorly made beer

 

I personally have had no problems at all with the Dark App cans. I've always been a fan of the beer and prefer it to Oil, but I've probably bought more of it in this format than I have for the past 5 years. The cans make it one of the best shelf stout deals in the state.

 

I know, my comment wasn't very clear. Just saying aside from the contamination/BA issues, the 'clean' stuff isn't very good, either.

Aside from Dark App, when I tried a fresh can of "Who Cook's For You" I was greatly disappointed. My note states "Only three weeks old and it tastes like it's been sitting on a warm shelf for 2-3 months... Not good".

Needless to say, I don't really plan to buy any more JO stuff for the indefinite future.

 

Man, WCFY is so good, this is crazy. I think people expect the heft and sweetness of a 2x NEIPA and that's just not what that beer is trying to be.

 

The one can of Dark Apparition I had was was really good. I still have three more, so maybe I’ll crack another one soon. I also buy a sixer of Mystic Mama about every 2-3 weeks and have not had any issues.

 

I'm not really a hazy fan, but I love Who Cooks. I ripped through the six pack I bought recently in record time and was very happy with it. I've also really enjoyed the cans of DA that I purchased.

 

I'm sure most do, your right. I know what the beer is trying to be, though, and is right in my typical wheelhouse.

Most of the beers I drink are in the 4-6% range, so i'm not expecting anything different from what I typically like. Maybe a fluke on that particular can, but if a beer can't hold up at three weeks old, regardless of storage in that short period of time, that's no good.

Perhaps just my luck with the cans of JO I've purchased... But too many better options available to waste money on sub-par offerings from a particular brewery.

I will still pick up their BA bottles, when they are aren't contaminated and all that fun stuff, though. Last few I had were great.

 

The Dark Apparition cans I've had have been fantastic. I think they're even better than the bottles were. I didn't pick up any metallic taste at all.

Additionally, I just opened a 2016 Brick Kiln with nuts. It aged very, very well. No problems to report.

 

I bought a 4 pk of Dark App and it was fine. The New Growth this Spring was shite, tho

 

Yeah ordered a can of that a bar this spring because the draft list was terrible--was pissed especially due to the markup.

 

For those that signed up for the Imperial Scouts, have you received any sort of confirmation or next steps from JO?

 

Just the order confirmation after checkout. Nothing else yet.

 

When I login to the shop I see my membership and it just says "Delayed" for the status. But I have my confirmation and everything. I remember them saying we'll get some notice about the anniversary party/beers sometime in late December?

 

I'm pretty sure it shows delayed because the membership doesn't start until 1/01/20.

As far as the anniversary beers, I believe we will be able to purchase our allotment between 12/23-12/27.

Looks like they're releasing the Champion Ground bottles, so I guess whatever the issue was, it wasn't an infection. More than likely just being careful because of the previous issues.

 

Measure twice, cut once! Good on them.

 

Any ideas what bottles are being released for the party. Was trying to figure it out based on draft list for the party. Excited for ba dark app with nuts.

 

If I had to speculate I'd say:

I don't think the draft list really gives us any hints.
