The cost for retailers 2 years ago for regular was 84 a case. Now it's 109 so you can expect a price increase. At least in NYC

This sounds like it should be used in a political ad by a pro-beer party.

Wow, a 30% increase. So a typical price of $12 two years ago (here) could be $15.60. Haven't heard our prices yet, and our distributor delivers Friday morning so no early sales. I heard we're only getting Wheatwine, Cafe de olla, and Mon Cheri. Unclear if we'll see the others in a more limited quantity.

Yep, just got back from there. I only bought 2 each of Reserve Rye and 2-year Reserve.

Pricing on variants is awful. But it does make me laugh because all I hear throughout the year is how no one will buy it because it’s an AB product. And yet, even at these prices, most of those people are full of shit.

Looking around my area in NM, prices have increased for this year, despite last years sitting for months at a lower price. Easiest pass ever

Regular is looking like $12.99- $14.99, with some variants at $26.99. They brought in more and more wheat wine last year for $19.99, and no one wanted it. They obviously have no price analysis down for my region. I remember when 4 pks were $20 and people were upset. They’re creeping closer to $1/oz., which would be a $48/4pk. Yikes.

Right now for this year, it’s priced at a $37/4 pk.

The bottles are bigger than when they were 4-packs, and fancier. Only accounts for some of the increase.

I'm getting mine at Liquor Shed Friday. Hopefully, I see a reasonable price.

One of the frustrations with buying the variants here is that two of the three we're supposed to get - Cafe de olla and Mon Cheri - I won't have a chance to try before I have to decide how many to get. It's not like I can take one home, chill it a bit, try it, then run out and get more, because it'll be gone. Last year I did manage to try Wheatwine on tap at 11AM and had a chance to pick up more bottles. Suppose I could take a cooler with ice and a glass along....nah, better not. :innocent:

My liquor store had one sitting by the register when I was in earlier. They wouldn't let me buy it until tomorrow though. Said it was $12.99 per bottle and they had 15 cases. Looked like regular. Cant wait!

Maybe you should just go see a movie and not be bothered by the whole thing.

Edit: I tried to add the wink emoji, but it wouldn’t take.

A few days ago it looked like I might have to miss BCBS Friday because of a family emergency, or at least take it on the road. I got thinking about it, and it wouldn't be the end of the world. I have a lot of great beers in the cellar and lined up to review, so I'm less hyped than past years. Looks like I won't have to miss it after all, but will probably will buy less than in the past.

I think you’re on the right track here but there’s no need to chill a barrel aged stout. All you need is the glass!

Hear, hear! There's so many amazing beers around these days (plenty of mediocre and awful ones too, for that matter). If any of us wind up with 0 BCBS bottles, there is still so much opportunity to find & enjoy great barrel aged beers that we'd hardly even notice the loss. Here's to the death of FOMO!

Yeah, kind of a ritual. Refrigerate it, then let it warm to near-room-temp before drinking. Don't know why I do that. I do try it at different temperatures, and have had a few that turned into a hot mess when they warmed.

Spoke with a vendor today, he told me that since the market is so saturated with BCBS that it’s a bit more scarce this year. We’ll see. My new store (no numbers or sales figures to work with from previous years) only got 6 cases of BCBS, and a case each of the Cafe De Olla and Mon Cheri here in Houston.

It’s spread out more or they made less?

If they depend on sales of GI products and even BCBS for future sales, almost everyone would be getting less. Somewhere some store is getting 50 cases lol.

Coffee is really good this year, Mon Cheri a miss, IMO. Prop is solid as well, and I was surprised with how good the wheatwine was. The Regular is on point this year as well. I expect a $1-$3 increase in pricing this year, YMMV depending on location.

My local store ended up with two cases of barrel aged Ten Fidy yesterday, so I ended up buying an entire case of that. We rarely get that around here, so I was surprised to see so much of it. At 38 cents/oz compared with 70 for BCBS, I couldn’t pass that up, so no BCBS for me this year.
