OEC has some good trading value and do a wide range of crazy sours.
Fox Farm underhyped but amazing beers
    counterweight good also.
I think if you are strictly wanting trade value TreeHouse is your winner.
    welcome to the site!

This is honestly the strangest thread ever. Original says "New England" then everyone lists CT breweries plus Hill Farmstead. Try these on for size...
Bissel Brothers (anybody heard of this?)
    Foam (?)
I bet some Long Live releases would fetch a nice trade return.

Here are a couple of thoughts. The OP should try drinking some of our great beer from New England breweries before trading it away. I did some trading years ago and found it to be a hassle and not worth it. Plus, I was sending beer out and getting stuff in return that wasn’t nearly as good as what I sent.

to piggyback off this (man, I hate that term): My advice is to enter this hobby as open-minded as possible. That is, don’t just search “whales.” Don’t just go into the top lists and try to find those. You’d be doing yourself a tremendous disservice. You won’t find a beer like Notch session pils on a “best of” list, but it’s a beer I love. Same for countless others.

Entirely agreed. SN Celebration is one of my favorite beers. No trading or travel necessary

I definitely agree that New England has some amazing brews to offer, some of which will not be listed as popular and others that no one will have ever heard of. I am specifically looking for trade value or something that someone out of the geographical area would love. My bf is part of a beer Secret Santa that sends a 12 pack of local brews to someone he draws from the group. The person he got is in TX so he’s trying to find some great stuff to send. Also, I am really trying to get my hands on some Pliny for my bf who has never had it. My cousins say it’s their favorite but they said they never see if available for purchase even where they are in CA.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Do you know anything about this person's beer preferences? It would also help if we knew roughly where you are and/or where you're willing to travel to for beer procurement.

Maine Beer Co. Another One, Lunch, and if you can get to ME, Dinner and Second Dinner might be tradable. I personally never understood the demand for Lunch (as nice as it is), but you should be able to get some. I prefer Another One and Dinner both by far. They make some other nice IPAs too, like Woods & Waters. Not sure of the trade value for this stuff, but I bet Dinner will trade nicely. As for Trillium, I bet their pastry stouts will be good trade bait.

    But don't trade a $20 stout for a $5.50 IPA.

Pliny is pretty easy to get wherever it is distributed so not going to be hard to trade for. It is definitely not “whale” status.

Trillium IPAs would trade easy for Pliny.

Real question, do people still put NEBCO in the same conversation as other top New England beers? I lived in Stamford for a couple years and have amazing memories of Ghandi Bot and remember waiting 4 hours for an FBD release event in 2013. However, I stopped at the brewery this summer and was let down by all the offerings I had (including FBD). I stopped by Coalhouse in stamford on my way up to VT from NYC this week and had a sea hag that was a drain pour. Feel like it's beyond my pallet changing, but curious if others feel that way.

In my opinion, I don’t think they are ever really recovered after the Gandhi Bot name change fiasco. I haven’t seen one of their beers in “my part” of MA for a long time

So really you are Looking for some good beers available in ct to send to Texas and land some Pliny. Maybe some allagash Wilds,or Lawson’s stuff? Sure there’s tons more options.
Sip of sunshine or other Lawson's might land you some Pliny, treehouse or trillium should no problem. Make sure to ask the bottle date, it falls off very fast imo. I would not trade for anything over 3 weeks old(really 2 weeks) it will take a week to get to you from Cali. Good luck

I bet New Park would be worth a good amount in trade. Despite how much people in this thread shit on the place, the beer ranks very highly. Plus they don't distribute which adds more to trade value. A really savvy beer drinker may know about them by name but if they looked at Untappd scores it could garner a good bit.

Totally disagree. They have tons of stuff in cans now, the prices of their brews (cans and growler fills) are the best in the business, the taproom is beautiful and open everyday and often has food trucks, live music, activities, the service is fantastic and their offerings are stellar . No distro in MA b/c they’re so popular they can barely keep up with demand in CT.

Cool, I’m glad to hear they’re doing okay. I guess I just never even considered them, especially them when Fox Farm is so close on my way North.

I take "whales" to be extremely sought after and valuable beers.

The only real "Whales" in NE are some of the hill farmstead bottles. Ann and Art are some of the most valuable beers trading wise you could find (note, these ARE NOT the normal versions - Anna and Arthur. These are one off barrel aged blends of the best Anna barrels or Arthur barrels). Double Barrel Damon is up there too. Samuel is very valuable but not on the same level as those three, it's probably around Side Project BVC value wise. Probably forgetting some other HF stuff too.

OEC is super weird but Cuvee De Gorgoroth from them has more value then pretty much any Trillium or Tree House beer

With the increased production I wouldn't really call any of tree house's beers "whales" any more, but i guess you could say Very GGGreen and King JJJulius would qualify. If/When they ever put out Good Morning again that would qualify, and maybe some of the stuff they release from their barrel aging program next year might end up being whales too

I'd say want list is entirely different than "whales". Breweries with solid trade value in NE include Bissell, Vitamin Sea, Trillium, Tree House, HF, and Foam. To a lesser extent Lawson's, the Alchemist, Fox Farm, and Tilted Barn have some value to the right people.
