Any hummus without tahini isn't really hummus.

I developed a severe sesame allergy around age 32 after years of eating lots of Lebanese and Mediterranean food. I avoid anything with hummus.

Not to beat a dead horse, but if the beers are pasteurized, bottle conditioning is not happening, as nothing is happening in the bottle at that point.

Seeing little to no evidence of bottle conditioning for Trill stouts - no telltale yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle, longer wait to get the beer to market from a brewery known to push beer to the sales counter as fast as possible even if the product is sub-par, lots of residual sugars and flavor from the adjuncts, meaning sugar in the adjuncts is not bring fermented out, higher risk of under or over carbonated bottles if you're using the sugar in adjuncts as your priming sugar (more difficult to measure sugar content than using just straight sugar), and using dessert baked goods or other sweets as priming sugar is just way more expense just to have the flavor ferment largely or completely out.

I don't know if they pasteurize, filter the yeast, or just add adjuncts after the yeast have hit their alcohol tolerance, but I have a hard time buying they'd bother throwing desserts in a stout only to have the flavor ferment out in bottle conditioning and using priming sugar that's 5x the cost of regular old sugar.

I wouldn't be surprised if they filter the yeast, that's my guess for how they do the heavily fruited stuff like the seesaw series. Lots of residual sugar in 4% beers that are shelf stable for months at room temp likely means either filtering or pasteurization, and I'm not knowledgable enough to know which of those has less of a detrimental impact on beer flavor, of is more economical.

BUT I also have zero commercial brewing experience, so feel free to correct my thinking!

I'd agree with this 100% Picked up my bottles today of BA Cinnimon Raisin Bun, and tried it on draft. It was pretty good, but I got no barrel from it, very strong cinnamon front, the dark fruit finish. But no barrel or spirit flavor to accompany the sweetness. It wasn't a bad beer, just not their best effort.

Had BA Nanaimo again because I can't get enough of this beer, Bourbon soaked s'mores as you stated is the perfect descriptor. It's really good, and I too thought the original was a cloying sweet mess.

I also had more sesame candy this is a wonderful beer. I can't wait to see how this evolves in barrels. Looking forward to that experiment 2nd only to BA Rocky Roads, which I hope we will see early next year.

That stout list in Canton is fire right now.

    BA Nanaimo
    Observing Reason
    Sesame Candy
    BA Cinnamon Raisin Bun
Haunted Fields (which I wasn't crazy about)

But the other 4 are awesome beers. Pretty great for anyone in the Canton area.

Certainly a matter of opinion but Coconut is my favorite variant by a full head and shoulders

I’m interested in tracking down a bottle of the Holiday Edition Oenobier as a Xmas gift for my uncle. He’s a wine/beer lover who lived in Boston for years. If anyone can help me out, PM me. We talk talk trade or whatever. Thanks!

J Wakefield posted an Instagram story about a bottle & can drop at Trillium tomorrow with a picture of Trillium Fort Point in the background. Would this be a first for them in terms of a special sale of another brewery's beer?

I don't think that is legal in MA.

Do you (or anyone else) know why? Plenty of breweries in NY do this all the time. Would love to get some Other Half or Equilibrium drops up here via Trillium.

That’s what I had thought... MA liquor laws make as much sense as Boston’s city planning

MA follows a three tier distribution system, brewer, distributor, retailer. Brewers can't distribute or sell anything they don't make themselves unless they also get a distributor license ala Night Shift distributing.

That sounds a little more informed than using “I don’t think” as a qualifier

There were two posts; Trillium posted about a can release at J. Wakefield; and J. Wakefield posted about a can release at Trillium.
