Any newish places in Bellevue to check out? I thought there was a place in Bellevue Square opening, but I can't find it now. I've always enjoyed the old dive of the Pumphouse for some reason as the Embassy Suites will drop me off there.

Not really, pump house still your best bet. Tavern hall is probably the place at Bellevue square but they are overpriced and have a worse selection.

Honestly overall Bellevue sucks for craft beer. Even Kirkland is better with thirsty hop and Pub 85 if you have to stay on the Eastside.

Good to know. Thought about Kirkland last time I was there and Pumphouse ended up having I think two Skookum taps so it all worked out.

Yeah while pumphouse doesn't have a deep list they usually have something decent on.

I forgot all about the QFC next to Bellevue Square. Drinking Skookum Double Pineapple Clouds now and they also have Perennial Fantastic Voyage on tap.

They also have tins of Cougar Gold for some extra points on my scale.

    Go Cougs!

I'll be in Seattle on Thursday (staying downtown) and will have a few hours in the evening before heading to the airport for my midnight flight home. I was planning to stop by Holy Mountain for some beers and bottles to take home; anything else that I should be on the lookout for? Any suggestions for a place to grab a bite near Holy Mountain (or within a reasonable Uber) are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The Masonry on lower Queen Anne is a little over a mile away. They've got a nice light menu with gourmet pizzas and other light fare. And it's a fine beer bar, among the better ones in the city. They are open until 11. Make sure you get the right location (there are two): 20 Roy Street, Seattle 98109.

This is late, but Poulsbo is a really cool town and the Marina Market is a great Belgian beer store. Going back next summer, and looking forward to it.

As the end of the calendar year approaches, maybe it's time to start kicking around ideas for next years batch of the various "Visiting" threads? Any major additions/subtractions need to be made?

SeaTac Airport is undergoing a bunch of change but I don't travel enough to know how that's shaking out.
    Dirty couch has a taproom
Georgetown has a taproom (I gotta get down there!)
Machine House CD is now the Capercaillie
I'd add Full Throttle to the bottle shops

Georgetown's taproom is a seriously cool space.

SeaTac is odd. They take one step forward in regard to beer at the airport and then take three steps back.

Great tap list behind a paywall in the Alaska Lounge. The Starbucks in the main terminal serves local craft beer. The Seattle Taproom is gone. The Ballard Beer Hall is pretty awful aside from a couple standards Fremont taps, and you can get pFriem IPA at Floret.

I'll compile everyone's input and create the new thread next month.

Seems like half of SeaTac's dining options are "coming soon" but I have no faith they'll be better than what currently exists. I was at Ballard Beer Hall a couple weeks ago and they had Fremont Sky Kraken, Reuben's Pilsner, I think 2 Pyramid taps, and macros. And pints are $10+.

Best of Hands and Aslan as some of the new breweries/taprooms to check out. Maybe Fair Isle soon too?

When is Grape Lotion going to be up and running in Ballard?

Next Spring/Summer. The fact it’s just a taproom and not a brewery should prevent additional delays.

    Just a taproom? Why bother?

Grape Lotion sees almost no distribution up here. I think I can count on one hand the stores that ever receive cans and I've never seen a keg outside of a special event.

If they have enough beer to send around, it's a lot cheaper to send more kegs and cans to the shops around town than to build their own taproom to sell the beer.

This is just speculation of course, so take my opinion with whatever you feel is an appropriate number of grains of salt.

My impression is that GN has a pretty high impression of themselves, and just assumes that there is huge, pent up demand for their beer in Seattle. While cans and kegs do show up around town on occasion, of course that's not nearly sufficient to slack the insatiable demand for their beer. As a result, GN fan-boys from around the city are forced to constantly be on the "watch" (via Instagram, untapped or whatever) to see when a keg will be tapped, or when a limited amount of cans will show up at some store. Sadly, they're therefore forced to constantly run around town in order to obtain that fabulous nectar/elixir known as GN beer (as of course no other beer will do).

With the opening of the taproom, the distasteful state of affairs alluded to above will come to an end. GN fan-boys, mad with desire for GN product, will now have a dedicated location where they can get their fix. While the cost may be a bit higher for GN beer at the taproom (not something GN seems to typically concern themselves with anyway), such concerns are trivial, when compared to the peace of mind GN fan-boys will now enjoy with a dedicated taproom that will allow them to partake of GN beer whenever they want.

In short, GN is clearly opening this taproom as a service to their throngs of adoring fans in the Seattle area, and in fact it seems odd that you can't see the obvious benefit consumers in Seattle will derive from the opening of this taproom. :sunglasses:
