I used to swear by Tilted Barn but it's been a minute.

The recent cans I have had are still really good!

they posted a while ago about bottles getting distro to Charlotte (Salud beer shop), I sent them a message on IG saying 'Please come do this in NYC" and they gave me the whole story about how they've tried, and how they feel "unwanted" in the NY beer market because everyone basically ignores their attempt to establish distro accts. I tried to link them up with Remarkable because I have a mutual friend who works there, but I don't think anything came of it...
    It's nonsense, and frankly upsetting!

That first can of Green that I had was what convinced me that you have to go to the source to get the good stuff. I drove 5 hours round trip the following week to walk away with 8 cans of haze, 6 cans of doppelganger, and a growler of Lights On. No regrets.

I dunno if it's Charlton or palate fatigue, but their recent stuff isn't anywhere close to what I remember from Monson. I'd take OH over Tree House nowadays. Green/Very Green still kick ass though.

I went over the summer and their stuff was amazing fresh. The first few cans of DDH Cactus that I drank were phenomenal. By the time I reached the end of my case about 6 weeks later, all the hops were faded.

I thought the Charlton hate was some Snopes level fake thing, but I will say the recent times I have gotten Sap its not where it was at Monson. Super Sap was still real good though. Maybe they just had some bad batches. I used to love Julius, but I think them ramping up batches maybe caused to drop in quality. Green is great and VG is prob my fav beer from them and one of my top 5 all time beers. I keep looking at my last can in my fridge and the struggle to drink or wait is real. Haze recently has been off the charts as well. Certain things have been really good out of the new facility, i think over time they have been nailing it down better at the larger batches that they did at first. But I remember my first TH trip in the freezeing cold walking away with like 12 Doppel cans 3 Julius and a few others and being like I don't regret this haha

As someone who regularly drinks OH, EQ, Trill and TH, here is my ranking of those IPAs:

OH > TH > some EQ > Most Trill > Most EQ > some Trill

OH and TH are the most consistently good breweries I’ve had and would give OH the edge for that extra bit of diesel fuel. DDH cabbage and the verdant collab were fantastic, as was Bloomfield Daydream.

I’ve had some wild variations on Trillium and EQ with Trill’s Death Mettle probably my favorite IPA of 2019 vs some absolutely funky (in a bad way) IPAs. Had some some EQ stuff that has blown my mind but other just meh.

I also wouldn’t sleep on Evil Twin NYC and R+B as others had mentioned. Evil Twin has sneaky very good IPAs but for whatever reason doesn’t get a ton of hype (good more for me).

He's making some pretty cool stuff. Recently had Lean and Spanspek2. The rocker glass that has been popping up on social media I actually made for him. I believe his plan is to pair them with the upcoming Lean Batch2 release.

Totally get people having their own particular preferences, but even within the niche NEIPA world I think there pretty big differences between what breweries are aiming to accomplish... to the degree that a comparison between them comes down to which approach you prefer rather than which one "does it better."

I've always thought TH has been more focused on churning out consistent, identifiable IPAs that highlight their signature yeast and (relatively) muted hop flavors (with exceptions obviously) while OH and EQ are more focused on bigger, bolder flavors that focus on hop combos.

I generally prefer OH's approach, and I think they succeed at it more consistently than EQ (though I have heard EQ has gotten better in the past year), but there are definitely instances/times when I want a Green more than a DDDDHHHHH ACE Mylar Dreambag Salad.

This. I really wanted Death Mettle and couldnt get anyone to trade me one! Same with R&B I want more but cant get it, unless I find it on tap in BK or NYC
This also, spot on with the thoughts on TH vs OH for me as well

Agreed. Tree House beers have always struck me as very balanced and have a very distinct velvety mouthfeel.

Look for those R+B can releases via Haymaker! Since they moved to Wednesday releases at GSB that’s how I’ve managed to grab cans

May be the first time I've ever been called 'cool' so I'll take it. I'm really just indifferent and I'm on the opposite end of Mattttttttttttttttt as far as trading goes. I'll pick up whatever's convenient and there's a couple stores between me and OH that give me good enough IPAs for under $20 (Industrial Arts, Threes, Toppling Goliath, LIC...I even think Sloop has gotten decent) without having to check instagram then check this thread and hope that I get my lazy ass there before their non-silly beers sell out. As someone (maybe you?) mentioned about a year ago, if they had a fridge constantly stocked with some staples like Broccoli or ACE, I'd go there every other day. But it's not hard to see the writing on the wall with HDHC and HBO being their new DDH as a reason/excuse to hike up prices. Similar to how they don't do non-DDH anymore, I'll predict in a year the same goes for HDHC and $24. I'm a medium-level functioning alcoholic and I get too tired too quickly with their thicc IPAs and stouts.

TLDR I'm getting too old and cheap and tired to keep up. I'm not their cool demographic to worry about anyway.

My conspiracy theory is that the $24 price point was set by Monkish, if they're all releasing the same beer it would be weird if they priced it differently and Monkish is consistently more expensive.

So is the collab worth $24, or do I just try it on draft to scratch the itch and load up on SD today assuming it's still in stock later?
