What beer are you drinking now? #2604

Good morning, virtual bar brethren.

It has been a while since I joined you all in the occasion known as weekend early morning drinking, but a vacation will do that to you.

I have a lot of stuff to do at home the next two days before rejoining the hell that is December retail call center work, so I’m starting off the day with another variation from one of the best “series” of beers there is, yet another amazing iteration of Prairie’s Bomb!



I’m going to try to post nothing but Christmas songs today, and I’m starting out with a little Christmas metal for my fellow pro wrestling fans @GreenBayBA, @biggmatt74, and @BrewsOverHoes. What do you say to a little Le Christmas music by Le Champion Chris Jericho and friends covering a holiday Who song?

I do not tend to drink early, but when I do, I start very early. This DDH version of King Sue sounds yummy right now.

 

A somewhat dreary and overcast morning calls for something a bit bright . . .

Parish Brewing Envie-Double Dry Hopped with Strata Hops

Hazy light gold color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of fresh, vibrant, citrusy hops, I get grapefruit and lemon zest.

Definitely accents the citrus hops first in taste. I get a solid malt base without a lot of malt flavor, it's there and certainly part of the profile but not the most striking thing about the overall taste. Hops are center stage here and I can't say I'm that familiar with Strata hops but this comes across as grapefruit and lemon zest with the zinginess of that combination. Fairly well made and complex enough to be interesting. Finishes dry.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

Well made and interesting enough for those who care about brewing details yet refreshing enough for those who don't.

 

Decided to get to the Aldi's Advent Beer box early with the Wernesgruner Dark A Schwartzbeir. I enjoyed the pilsner as well as this. I have enjoyed this adventure with the highly suprising beer quality at Aldi.

Union made, family owned beer for $5.50 / 4 pack? Yes! I hate green bottles and was really pleased Meijer picked up the 16oz cans. Helps balance the occasional indulgence in barrel aged stouts.

I'm fortifying with this however...

Good morning advocates. Boss told me take the day off with pay so I'll drink to that. Finback midnight sea with coffee, vanilla, lactose and Oreo cookies. All flavors present with a thick a full bodied mouth feel. Will definitely pick up a full pack cheers

I am going to have a long day of drinking delicious beers. I am going to pace myself. I have been in contact with @superspak. He is taking a break from BA for a bit, in order to take care of some things. He hopes to return by the end of the month. On Wisconsin!
