I know this will be a 9 on the cray cray BS scale, but the latest rumor I heard was that Monkish is going to come in with a fatty of an offer.

A monkish or green cheek offer is a win win for all of us!!

Monkish in Costa Mesa for me would be like the Kiebler Elf moving next door the Cookie Monster.

Doubt it. Monkish just spent a ton of time expanding and building up their brewery into the building behind the tasting room. Lot of new equipment in there. I don’t see them moving anytime soon.

Live from the hearing, where I'm eating my words. There's two overbidders.

The bidders are Green Cheek, Wortcraft (????), and Eflow (appears to be an LLC or some sort of investment firm).

Can we start a GoFundMe to help GC come out on top?

Green Cheek prevails at the cost of 1.05 million.

I seriously read Green Cheek initially as Green Flash and freaked out

It's also interesting that the most exciting thread about Barley Forge is its closure and space being taken over by GC

Looks like Wortcraft was another LLC created specifically to bid. Need to dig deeper and see who is tied to it.

Very glad GC still won with the investment LLCs bidding against them.

Now I'm even more curious. Anyone know of any local breweries who like to use games/gaming in their branding??? Hmmmmm.

The name on record is Carl Katz, according to a search I did on the Business Search page on the CA Secretary of State's website. There is also a person of the same name who is/was affiliated with The Bruery

Yeah, he is their agent for service. He's been involved with a few breweries (CFO/COO with The Bruery until 2016 and COO with Laguna Beach Beer Company until 2017) and now appears to provide consulting services via CRBMR (also owner/CEO) to industries including "brewing, distilling...". That's where it gets muddy trying to figure out who he was consulting with though. Most craft breweries are not utilizing outside counsel as their agent for service, so it leads me to think outside money or a larger brewery - or perhaps it was his own bid.

Old Orange, Valiant, Barley Forge... It seems like they all closed down for different reasons. Old Orange was just completely horrid is all regards; Valiant wasn’t all that bad, but they just couldn’t keep up with the market; while Barley Forge...who really knows? They had a few good beers and apparently a really good kitchen. Oh well, if someone is going to succeed, it’s Green Cheek.

This just made me realize, Green Cheek’s entire business model has been to capitalize on bankruptcy and other breweries’ misfortune. LOL. They’re the phoenix that rises from the ashes.

IMO Valiant was actually ahead of the market. With the literal adding of chocolate syrup to stouts & candy to berliners, if they had a canning line instead of a bottling line with "DRINK FRESH :fire:" they may have been ok.

Who knows? They treated their staff like shit and were well-known for that and their poor attitude within the brewing community. It's pretty well known why they failed.
