So I went to Seal Beachwood for lunch and day one of spontaneous fest. In between the Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen, I tried the Beachwood 13

and I wasn't impressed. It didn't really taste like a lager at all. If you remember when Lemondrop hops were hot for a minute, it tasted like that. Maybe I had an off pour or something. I'm curious to see how it is out of the can

Double Gator is still fantastic, though

I'm glad it's not just me, but I'm also sad. Normally, Beachwood's lagers are solid

Gator on tap was fantastic. I forget what DIPA (awesome hops?) that came out earlier this year where it was 9% but tasted like 5%. This is what gator is like (not unlike green shift which became a malty mess quickly in my fridge.

Had D Gator at the HB taproom yesterday. Thought it was very good for 9.1. Grabbed two 4pks for the road. Fresh 28 Haze Later in cooler also. Tried a taster of their 13. Didn’t care for it. But not my style anyways.

I like it. Maybe because I love the regular Amalgamator so much I had higher expectations for this one. As it warmed it got a bit too hot sweet and malty for me.

    Cheers,

Same experience. Sweeter/maltier than I'd hoped for. Still pretty great, but the original crushes this.

Yea but looks like only on tap, no bottles or cans. Maybe crowlers?

Do bottles at the Blendery hang around for a little bit typically?

I'm inclined to say yes, but I don't frequent the blendery location often enough to be concrete about it.

Had low expectations for Double Gator after reading comments here but man I'm impressed! Definitely different from its little brother with a noticeable alcohol burn on the finish, but the tropical darkness is outstanding on the nose and taste. Reminiscent of early Enjoy By beers.

    Cheers!

Picked up a couple of 4 packs yesterday of the Double Gator. Cracked one tonight and really enjoyed it. Loved the rich maltiness and tropical fruits. Long smooth finish. I love Amalgamator but wish this one was put into their regular rotation.

    boo

I'm also surprised at the mixed reception of Double Gator. At the anniversary it seemed to be a crowd hit (hence why they canned it). Bought a 4pack of it today, and I'm still digging it
