I thought the pre-order sheets helped a bit, especially on the front end instead of having to say how many of each I wanted. The girl working the POS entered my order, passed the sheet off to the guy behind her, and I had my beer by the time the transaction was done.

Cafe VSOD blew me away! The barrel was a bit muted, but the coffee nose and chocolate roast throughout was like nothing I've ever had in a coffee stout.

It was my wife's first beer release at Rev, and the only negative she had was that I was an idiot for not bringing snacks for the line. So really, that's not much change from everyday life.

Their one-off variants are consistently fantastic and, while I am a Rev fanboy, they seem to just be a very complete brewery. It really is crazy. Cheers to Rev and @Veliksta1.

To help make that point, about 4:20 yesterday I brought a taster out to a friend in line and the first thing I heard was glass breaking from someone dropping an bottle. I walked back inside and by 4:40 saw someone inside just fall over. It’s not really a good look.

Cafe VSOD was really good. Ryeway 17 always great. Liked the Sanctuary one but would prefer to be able to sit down and have it outside of a release. Enjoyed both Boss Jacket and Ryeway 19 the night before (PSA: Carbon Arc is serving 7 oz pours and saying they are 10/11. Refused to acknowledge when pointed out to them. $12)

Only other happening barely of note was guy who came up and set all his beers down on the shuffleboard table to wipe them off post-spill of some kind. As I wincing at the near spectacle of it all, an even bigger tool showed up to accuse everyone in a 5 foot radius of having their beers on the table and to move them so he could play (he never played). So congrats to Paul Blart shuffleboard cop on somehow being the worst person in that whole thing.

Not sure when the pre-order sheets stopped but they weren’t going at 6-6:15 or so. I don’t say that as a complaint but just for future reference. Maybe more difficult to use once it got dark outside besides the loading area?

Anyone had Cafe Deth lately? I finally tried it yesterday and the coffee was more muted than I had read. Has it faded a bit after 2 months?

I had Boss Jacket and VSOD at Beer Temple yesterday and thought both were good, but thought Boss Jacket was great.

At the release, I had Cafe VSOD, Sanctuary #6, and VOD by Currants. I liked Sanctuary best, it was boozy and delicious. I thought Cafe and Currants were good, pretty much exactly what they said they were - heavy on the coffee and currants.

I was surprised ‘18 DBVSOD kicked so quickly and got so much love. I wasn’t crazy about it last year but maybe I need to revisit my last can.

I'm with you on DBVSOD, but I'm chalking it up to '18 DT being not nearly as complex as '19. I much preferred this VSOD to it. Cafe VSOD was by far my favorite (which should come as no surprise). I missed out on the Supermassive a few releases ago, so this was a nice consolation prize. Sanctuary was my second, but definitely more on the boozy side. I only had a couple sips of Boss, but I really liked it as well.

I felt like the Currant was so strong that I missed out on any special barrel flavor. Maybe it would have come out more if done side by side with regular Deth by Currants?

Fun release party. Let’s see what January brings for Ten Year and the Cuvee de Grace

It's tough to compare now with the amount of time that’s passed, but I liked Cafe VSOD nearly as much as Supermassive, which I thought was great as well. They both kind of ruined me a bit for Cafe Deth...

Totally agree. Suppermassive and Cafe VSOD have been my favorite two tap-only variants so far this "season."

So what’s everyone’s take on VSOD? Is it on par with VSOJ or just a slightly better version of DT?

My opinion is that it's a more rounded out DT. I'm actually not even sure which I like better, but that's only because I love regular DT this year.

I assume Ryeway is still available at the taproom?

I would assume so. Quite possible there is VSOD left too as they've not posted otherwise that I've seen. Good luck.

So, I know this has been discussed, but I’m really not interested in looking back through the thread, but what’s the consensus on Deth by plums, especially in relation to Deth by Currants.

I absolutely love Currants, but $10/can is still a price I don’t want to pay for a beer that’s “really good”. There a million really good beers available.

I haven't had this year's VSOD but I thought this years regular Deth was better than 2017 VSOD

Just did a side by side with cans of ‘17 and ‘19 VSOD, and ‘19 is waaaaay better.

I stopped in to pick up some Ryeway cans. I got a pour of VSOD and Ryeway (I also tried Ryeway on Thursday and loved it).

I end up buying 2 4-packs of VSOD and no Ryeway. VSOD is bonkers good.
