I did not see any birds, so I’m guessing not.

I don't know the true answer but I have thoughts: First, that spot is doomed. It's in my hood and we've lived here for going on 15 years and I want to say it's now on its 5th or 6th restaurant since we've lived here. Second, and most importantly IMHO, people in Seattle (especially north Seattle) don't actually like real Texas BBQ, which Jason made. They think ribs should "fall off the bone" like the commercial says and be drowning in sauce. Lastly, real BBQ is time-consuming and labor-intensive and, therefore, expensive --- I don't think people are willing to spend that kind of money for something they don't actually like.

Also, I thought the taplist was curated to match BBQ and I always thought they did a good job with that. More focus on lagers, reds, porters, etc. than on IPAs, etc.

Pro tip: Costco South Everett has Abyss, B-Bomb Coconut, Banished Tough Love. Couldn't believe my good fortune.

    Hi folks,

I'm planning a trip to Seattle in the spring. My first visit in over a decade!

My trip is still a way's off, but I'm excited. Looking forward to what I can gather from this thread, and the one that will kick off in another month.

Costco in Lacey had Abyss and Tough Love last time I was there, looks like I need to stop by and look for B-Bomb!

Soooo... been a pretty interesting day. Started out with some MT Wizard's blend 2019 at @DefenCorps recommendation. Not bad, but the sweetness was excessive I thought. I was unable to finish the $7 five ounce pour I ordered. Didn't really dig the vibe in the newly organized space over at MT either. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

After that it was over to Beermongers, where I got a glass of revolving symmetry hazy ipa by Ruse. Not impressed. Ruse makes really good beer and really good IPA's, but this beer tasted like they were just mailing it in. Just another hazy ipa in an ocean of ho hum hazy IPA's.

Am now at beer o'clock where I'm drinking a dupont avec les bons voeux and a taster size pour of the abyss old world in sherry casks. The dupont is as good as ever, if one can overlook the $9 an eight ounce glass price point. The abyss is just flat out terrible. The sherry flavor does not blend in well with the base beer, and it really accentuates the licorice, burnt toast and ashtray flavor I sometimes pick up in regular abyss. I've been letting it warm to see if that helps, but no luck so far. So glad I was able to get a 4 ounce pour of this at happy hour pricing here.

But hey... The 2016 Abraxas and Dupont I ordered today were both really good.

Thanks for the head's up on the Abyss variant. I'll take your word for it and not bother with that one. Too many beers, so little time.

Sorry to say it but Cloudburst’s quality has gone seriously downhill and at this point i avoid their ipas. Your best bet is to go to a bar for a wide selection of good local ipas. My favorite WA State ipa is Skookum, hands down

Funny you should mention Skookum at this time since it's a big release day for them. I'm sitting as we speak trying to rationalize to myself why I need to go there.

I’m not a fan of Skookum’s blue lives matter apparel, but I like their beer so I’m seriously torn.

Hmmm, I haven't seen it but I'm not surprised. They're kinda like Alabama in their neck of the woods. Keeping this thread beer centric, their Murder of Crows is the best shelf stout around - when I can find it.

And, Barren Wood is arguably the best Barleywine around.

Dude, you’ve been one of our biggest trolls going on 3+ years now. We get it, our beer isn’t for you. But it’s pretty apparent this has little to do with the objective quality of our beer.

WTF... Welp, more beer for some of y'all then. (See, I kept it beer-centric.)

Camo BLM hoodies they had on FB back in August. I was taken aback by it but read the comments and then remembered where they are. The owner and the head brewer are two different people and make different decisions, so I don’t know who was behind it. I’d like to know.

Breweries are more than beer, this is valid for discussion when talking about a business that makes beer. Do I want to drink their beer? Do I not want to drink their beer? I’m not sure but I don’t believe that we should avoid it.
