Here’s my post from last years thread. I’m sure it still holds true:

Haven’t read any responses. My guesses (in no order)

    Drink less

    Drink down cellar

    Spend less on beer

Travel more for beer / visit new breweries

Chase less hyped beer and focus on the readily available solid beers

Looking forward to seeing you all drinking/trading a fuck ton of whales and building up your cellar in 2019!

LOL. I think you're spot on.

Alright. My 2020 goal is to go from 80% to 100% remote work, get my wife from 90% to 100% remote work and we'll #vanlife (as the kids say) around the US working remotely so we can ski and hike all over the US, visit relatives, visit random breweries after digital roaming for the day jobs. Both of our HR departments are ass-backward and way behind the times.

I spent most of last year ( since March) only drinking on Wednesday during the week , if my math is good I had 110 no alcohol days and will keep that up, now want to further reduce overall beer drinking on the weekend and keep exploring low abv beers . And of course enjoy a treat here and there.

    Cheers to your 2020 plans!.

In my area there seems to be a new small, local brewery opening up every week. My goal in 2020 is to do a better job trying beers from this ever growing number of local breweries.

Last evening at a local beer bar I had a beer from Ambler Beer Co. that recently opened (August 2019). I enjoyed drinking that beer!

    Cheers!

This is probably going to sound insane but I just want to sit down. I have a beer while cooking or doing 1 of the 100 other things I'm always doing. I just want to relax more and actually sit down and enjoy the beer I'm having.
Way too much noise going on around me and my job is 24/7 stress. I just want to open a beer and turn the volume down

My 2019 goal was to review 365 beers, and as of last night, I'm just over 400, so, mission accomplished.

For 2020 I want to focus more on revisiting old favorites, while still reviewing around 200 beers.

I did this a bunch of years ago and it’s great.

Still trying to stay under $1 a can/bottle but it gets a bit harder each year. I was right around $1.10 this year. Those $12 craft 15 packs help a lot as does my love of Hamms/High Life. Buying a bunch of Willetized and a few cases of Schlafly coffee stout really blew up my budget though this month.

    Enjoy

While I plan to explore more beer styles for 2020, I also intend to revisit some of the classics I have enjoyed in the past. Also, I plan to drink more beer when I (attempt) to play the guitar. For some reason, when I do drink beer and play, I seem to sound so much better that I am ready to join a rock-n-roll band. Regardless of your goals, I hope everyone has a fantastic 2020.

I'll kind of separate this into homebrewing and commercial beer

    Homebrewing
    • Enter more competitions and place in them. Trying to enter at least one beer in 6 of the 8 major competitions in Florida.
    • Drink more homebrew, less commercial beer
    • Brew and blend a double barrel imperial stout. Started the first half this year, filled a 5 gal bourbon barrel with a 13% imperial stout. Going to brew a second batch and throw it in an apple brandy barrel.
    • Collab with a professional brewer
    • Brew one beer in each BJCP style grouping (might need 2021 as well for this haha)
    Commercial Beer
    • Slay more "whales"
    • Trade for stuff from breweries I don't normally trade for stuff from.
    • Write more reviews of beers on here instead of just checking in on untappd
    • Make sure my liver survives Wakefest

As I believe I said last year, I don't set beer goals, that would take all the fun out of the journey.

To drink slower...maybe take a ten minute break in between beers...to consider whether that last beer before bed is worth it. Basically to calm down.

Last time we had a goal thread was 2018. I wanted to:

    - Review 100 places
    - Try more classic beers

I accomplished both of those. For 2020, I have several goals:

    - Focus more on quality beer; less on rarity
    - Review 200 places (175 currently)
    - Review 100 breweries (57 currently)
    - Review 25+ more Most Popular beers (163 currently)
    - Review 10+ more Beers of Fame (98 currently)
    - Review 1 place in another country (4 currently)
    - Review 2+ places in 'new' states (16 currently)
    - Review a beer from each state + DC (48 currently)

Sometime mid-2019 my focus unintentionally switched more towards classics and staples vs. new beer. I intend to carry this focus forward into 2020, with each of the above goals being more about a journey within beer instead of a destination. Along with this focus, I've found a lot of enjoyment in trying new establishments, venues and breweries. I hope to get out to visit more, both locally and nationally.
