They’re doing kinda the same thing in DC, store is only open Thur-Sat, alters plans when going on pick up

It’s been buried in the last two emails sent out about the twelve days sale.

Oof. I'd love more of regular and BA 5 Golden but the new pricing is too rich for my blood.

I shared a BA 5 Golden with friends last weekend and it was a hit. Smooth, rich, mellow. It's great, and if you haven't tried it I think I probably would recommend splurging (assuming you like the sound of it), but not something I can justify stocking up on with all the other offerings of late.

On the 5th day email it reads “Holiday Hours at the Society Fulfillment Center.” 3rd and 4th day emails read “New Hours at the Society Fulfillment Center.” Must be reduced pickup specific to this time of the year.

The message is more confusing than one of my lectures! I’m curious if someone from The Bruery would like to clarify?

    5 Golden Rings: 2012 vs 2019

TL;DR both are delicious and equally flavorful but in different ways.

I still remember buying this beer at retail as a plebeian. This has always been a standout beer to me for balancing exoticness and accessibility.

The 2012 has aged majestically and for my taste has improved over time. It's rich, smooth, and balanced. No "buts" or qualifiers for me. Similar to my comment on the BA version, despite how good it is I just can't justify stocking up at the current price point. However, if you've never tried it and the description sounds good, you should absolutely treat yourself and splurge on one.

The 2019 is very tasty even though I prefer the aged version. The first of two big differences for me is that the fresh one has a more pronounced Belgian yeastiness. I do not recall if the original used to have this, and it's a perfectly nice flavor, however it's bold and does distract from the pineapple and spice. It actually made me think of Levud's, and now I'm wondering if that was the base for the original. The second big difference with the fresh brew is that the pineapple is more vibrant; I think what I'm detecting might actually be acidity from the juice, which has faded over time with the aged version. I do recall the original having more vibrant pineapple fresh, so this jives. The aged version absolutely has strong pineapple flavor, it's just more mellowed. Finally, 2012 has a slightly creamier mouthfeel which I prefer, but I couldn't say whether this was a difference from recipe or aging. 2019 is more crisp.

The bottle says to enjoy at 50 degrees, but I think they both tasted even better as they warmed up.

    Enjoy!

I had the honor to try all twelve of the rebrews tonight... and you’d never guess who was at the table (I’ll give you a hint: the founder of my favorite brewery!)

They were all fantastic... 2 Turtle Doves won the night for me however!

    3 French Hens: 2010 vs 2019

TL;DR - awesome tasty beer, but let's be honest, in no reality is it $56 tasty.

What impressed me the most is how similar the two were. This is a nine year old beer and it's preserved itself well.

Very yeasty, dry dark Belgian. Original brew is somewhat more carbonated, and has a touch of some flavor that might be bret. If so, it's inoffensive to my pallet which doesn't care for sours. I bought a case of these from a restaurant in 2016 and this was my last bottle; that same flavor has been there the whole time so I'd call the beer stable if it is bret or another bug.

If you're a completist, you can feel safe that you're not buying a beer that's gone gross. In fact, the Bruery's stock might be better since I don't know how mine was previously stored prior to fluctuating 50-70 in my garage. But, to be honest, I'd put your $56 towards buying another 12 Days box.

A few question for the hive mind on the wine hybrids / wine-forward beers (like Malibu Carbonic, Elizabeth and Thomas Rutherford, Graciano, etc.):

Should they be stored upright or horizontal (or does it depend on if it is corked?)? Do they need to be refrigerated/stored at a different temperature than other beers? If the Fulfillment Center puts them in the box upside down, should I store those specific bottles upside down (for cork contact or sediment, or whatever?)?

Do none of these questions particularly matter if the label doesn’t specify?

I popped open a BBA 6 Geese tonight...

There are definitely sour notes, but they do absolutely nothing but compliment the overall flavors of the beer. I’m not sure if it was on accident or not, but I don’t care... it’s awesome!

It's from something that circulated awhile ago online. Just google it and you'll find a picture of a bunch of Facebook posts. Still makes me laugh.

4 hoarders boxes up for sale, I haven't had any of them as I was only Reserve this year but will be a hoarder in 2020. What would people recommend as the best box to go with?

I personally enjoyed the first one quite a bit. Second was alright but underwhelming enough to make me pass on the third, which seems even more blah. I ordered the fourth but have not tried received it yet.
