I've been thinking about it, and you know what? I don't want any beer goals. Goals reek of work and responsibility, and I have enough of that crap in my life. For me, beer is about not really trying to do anything other than enjoy life. If I can spend another year cracking a few beers with friends on my boat or at a bonfire, I'm going to count it as a solid year. And that's starting to should like a goal. Son of a bitch.

it would be cool to meet up with some BA's in Sacramento, or if any BA's also like wine, down here in Lodi

Ya sheesh man, don't work so hard. Look, I'll take the boat of your hands for the year. Let you get a break from that pressure. Hell I'll take the beers too if you need, just let me know how I can help

Drink roughly the same, but spend much less. This strategy means I will be spending more on classic breweries like Sierra Nevada and overall revisiting old favorites. The price for a 4-pack of pint cans from a local brewery in most cases is too much. Will lead to more closings in 2020.

I recognize that you are now choosing to no longer purchase expensive 4-packs but have you noticed that other beer consumers are doing the same?

    Cheers!

Within my circle of friends, yes. Me, personally I'll still splurge occasionally. I have noticed old canning dates (1 month+) when buying beer from some local breweries. That's a bad sign. Inventory not moving.

Definitely spend less. I enjoying visiting breweries and go direct to the source for cans/bottles every week. End up overspending and giving away beer. My goal is to make one, maybe two trips per month to keep beer/gas expenses reasonable.

Drink more local brew's here in Columbus rather than chase out of state whales. Travel to more Ohio breweries. Last, really give sours another try.

Why are you cutting back on the lactose? It's fine in stouts, imo, but personally I'm not a big fan of most other styles with lactose added (especially IPAs). It's more of a flavor/aftertaste/mouthfeel thing for me. I still drink them when offered, but I do not seek them out at all.

For me lactose and beer do not mix, it's a recipe for digestive distress. I always avoided milk stouts for this reason. I'm not generally lactose intolerant but I've yet to find a lactose containing beer that I could comfortably drink (granted I've stopped trying)

That's a shame because Hard Milk was going to be the next big thing in the brewing world.

like many of the BAs on this thread, my number one beer goal for 2020 is drink down the cellar. taking up too much space and my wife wants to re-do the kitchen in 2021, so gotta reduce the stash in the next 12 months. goal #2 is to start homebrewing. goal #3 is to take a brewery-centric trip somewhere like Chicago.

While the son was here the other day he went into the cellar. His comment was that it looked as if there was a lot less beer there. Guess I need to go shopping !!

It never seemed like an adjunct that achieved anything that was worth the caloric/gut filling trade off.

I agree 100% with this comment.

It adds a nice mouthfeel to simple stouts (who drinks those anymore?), but BA and pastry stouts hardly need anything extra for mouthfeel these days. It adds nothing to the flavor except a weird aftertaste that I'd prefer to avoid.

That is a similar mode for me, visit familiar and new to me breweries, and try beers I have not had before.

    1) Try a beer from West Virginia to complete all 50 states.
    2) Host another beer pairing event with some good food.

Hey. It's a lot of work being this much of a fuck up and still being moderately successful. Or at least functional.
